Re: Viper ran [email protected] with a 1.68 60\' Today
Screw the new Z06 -
I ain't skeered :D
I want to be the first to waste one with a Viper stock save for filters.

Re: Viper ran [email protected] with a 1.68 60\' Today
I don't think I would do much better, I can't do a proper burnout to heat them up, but put in a driver like Evan Smith from MM&FF Magazine, I'll bet he could pull off easy low 11s on slicks and 11.3-11.4 on DRs.
I don't think Creampuffs...

BACKNBLACK -
Thanks.
I gotta let my son read that.
The track was very sticky as are the Kumhos.
I did a small burnout just to clean the tires described below:
I just tach it up to like 3500, let off the clutch and nail it up to the line...
Re: Viper ran [email protected] with a 1.68 60\' Today
No problem:
I have stock Michelins in front, I have noticed no adverse handling on the street.
The rear Kumhos are 335/30/18 (same as stock).
I set them at 26# of pressure COLD at home.
When I got to the track they read 28# HOT, so I...

Re: Viper ran [email protected] with a 1.68 60\' Today
Thanks
Those tires make the car so much safer to drive with.
Unfortunately they wear out VERY fast.
As far as a good driver, I'm OK, but ATCOs track prep is the best.
God, if I could only powershift I would run 11.5s easy.

Re: Viper ran [email protected] with a 1.68 60\' Today
ATCO's track prep was AMAZING.
It was so sticky, great for racing.
They kept the left lane dry for guys with radials and the right lane wet for the guys with slicks.
I'd love to go, but my wife will kill me if I go again that soon.
Maybe...
Re: Viper ran [email protected] with a 1.68 60\' Today
Everything on this car is stock except for the filters, tubes, and Kumhos.
I never launch it very hard, even the 3500 was high for me, but I know they will break if I push it much harder.

Viper ran [email protected] with a 1.68 60\' Today
Track rental today at ATCO.
2001 Viper GTS - tubes, filters, and Kumhos.
The Viper clicked off three 11.8s and one 11.9 launching at 2000rpms and cutting 1.8 60's.
Last pass I launched at 3500 and cut a 1.68 60' on the way to a...
I'm going to a track rental there on 4/29.
I am running the Viper and my 92 Stang.
Looking for 11s (Viper) and 10s (Stang) on radials.
Depending when the rental is I would do it.
Can I bring the Stang????
Howard
I managed a 1.89 60' on Stock Pilots.
I launched at 2000rpm and went full throttle as soon as I felt it grab.
I had the Pilots at 26-28# of pressure in the rear.
The big problem with the Pilots was I could not keep it from hopping uncontrolably on the 1-2 shift and had to completely back out...
Pilots on the front, Kumhos on the back, HANDLES GREAT.
They have pretty good bite also, much better than the Pilots on the street, but not as good as a DR on the track from what I hear, but I drive 99.9% of the time on the street.
Howard
Re: Kumho\'s are Wider
Thanks for all the quick answers.
For the added bite I'll deal with it, but like BlueGTS said, it almost looks unfinished.

No 3M tape yet, I heard it is only a wheelwell issue.

I just mounted my new Kumho Ecsta V700s (335/30/18s) on my 2001 Viper GTS two weeks ago.
I love them, they are VERY STICKY and I can now rip a 1-2 shift without being all over the road. I can also nail it in 1st at 3500rpms and stay straight.
BUT....
They are much narrower than my Pilots...
Re: 60\' time pilots
I pulled a 1.89 60' time with a stock Viper on pilots.
I launched at 2000rpm and went WOT when I felt it grip.
This was on the way to a 12.3 1/4.
Hopefully my new Kumhos will allow me enough traction 60' & on my 1-2 shift to hit 11s.

Re: Kumho tire owners, need some advice
I was out cruising again today with the new Kumhos.
I feel very safe nailing it at any speed in 2nd, and they still are not completely beoken in.
1st sticks better than before. I did manage to kick it out sideways pretty good right out of the hole...
Re: Kumho tire owners, need some advice
I just put mine on today.
I ordered the Kumho Ecsta V700 335/30/18s.
I did not order them shaved as they are already at a minimal tread depth. (we measured them at 8/32). My Pilots with 10K on them were still at 10/32.
I just ordered them as is.
They...
Are they really THAT BAD in the rain.
Everyone says BFG DRs are terrible, and I have no problem in my Stang in the rain. I know they get bad as they wear down.
My bet (I'm hoping) is as the tires wear down they will be Bad in the rain, but probably OK with decent tread.
Howard
The Kumhos were $241 each plus shipping from Tire Rack.
Total was $524.
I have heard alot of people run Michekons in front because the Kumhos tend to throw rocks and gravel up on the sides from the front tires.
Howard
My buddy has a 2000 GTS and he is buying my 2 rear 10K mile pilots for $200.
Plus he is mounting and balancing my Kumhos for free.
Not a bad deal, for $324 total I'll have 2 NEW 335/30/18 Kumhos.
11.6s would be a dream come true, but since I have a creampuff with only smooth tubes and filters...
