flossm,
Yes I think porting is needed but I don't think you can port it through to the cabin. As we all can see with Viper 505...not much you can do with an R/T sound system. However, if you get it to work well let me know...and take pics! Good luck!
I don't think you can put a sub in the trunk and port it through due to the gas tank. I may be wrong on this but that is what my installer told me. Let me know if it is possible.
I put a custom stereo in mine last summer. I put 2 6" Kicker subs in the factory spots and they are powered by a Orion 240GX amp in the trunk. I also put JL audio speakers in the doors and they are all powered by two Apline amps mounted in the trunk. There is also a crossover mounted in the...
Dogs???...That's my passenger when I want to be in the Highway express lane going through Atlanta Or Nashville! Kick my dogs [******]?..Guess your Viper will too huh? :p
PBJ,
I also have the NX kit on my 96 RT. I have the wet shot system with 200hp right now. I have had it about a year and it works great. I plan to turn it up to the 300 shot this summer. No problems other than gettting traction in 1st and 2nd  Good luck!

Have fun
Welcome,
You made a wise choice in going with the Viper! Glad you are a part of the 96' RT Club! Mods...? Well, do some searches. There are quite a few out there but some restrictions on the Gen 1 engine. I will tell you this though....I love my NX kit! Good luck
Mark
Viper 505,

Malcoll,
The exact same thing happened to me! I thought it was my head gaskets too, but it was not. Turns out that the coolant crossover housing had pits in it and the gaskets were not sealing right. My viper tech replaced the coolant crossover housing and everything is perfect!
Tony,
Well, I don't have slicks yet. And I need to beef up my half shafts first. But I may come down ther to see what it is about. I have your number...I'll give you a call and maybe we can ride down there together.
O.k....I am going to try and take my car to the drag next Spring and need some advice from you guys. I have a extra set of 17 inch wheels that I can use for slicks. What kind of slicks do I need and what can I expect to pay? Also, what can I expect at the dragstrip as far as what to do? Never...
