Viper Vs. Viper article in Automobile Mag.

One of my friends is a retired F16 pilot, and he also said that under the right conditions, he could get to 500 mph in 10,000 feet, and get to 1300 mph in less than a minute. That's 50,000 horsepower at work! He said these car vs jet races are a little silly, since these jets were not purposely...

My Heffner TT is done. Picking it up Monday.

Jason's cars are not really a test of manhood. They are setup to work and put the power down. You have to experience one to believe. You can not fathom what it feels like putting down over 1000rwhp on the street. 1. More than you could imagine. Better than stock by a long shot. 2. A...

    Viper vs. F-16

About ten years ago, my sister was dating an Italian ENJJPT student pilot, and he told me that ejection seats have an explosive charge to blow the seat out of the cockpit, then several rocket motors fire off right after, to push the seat as far away from the jet as possible. I guess the...

    Viper vs. F-16

What was the outcome of the last Viper vs F16 race? Since I'm in the military, I started to think about other vehicles that the Viper could race. How about a Patriot missile? It goes from 0 to supersonic in under one second, and can hit top cruising speed of Mach 5 (~3800 mph) in under three...

Standing mile..How long of a strip do you need??

The two places where motorcycles like to do one mile runs (Maxton and Goliad) are both 1.5 miles long (1 mile to accelerate, half mile to get to complete stop). Both are abandoned runways. Some bikers have said the hardest part of the run was stopping! (from 250+ mph)

    TT vs SC

It's been a while since I kept up with TF specs, and it's amazing they're up to 8000 hp now. Interestingly, Kenny Bernstein's TF "only" puts out 6500 hp. Since I've heard numbers from 200 to 1500 hp to run the TF blowers, I decided to talk to the Gates company (the ones who make the blower belts...

Chad and the Heffner Team hit Texas, ready for the Supras!

Hey Chad, Do you plan on running your car in any standing-mile competitions? I think we'd all like to see what that beast can run! I think last year or so, Paolo Castellano's supercharged Viper ran 193 mph and SVS' (turbo) ran 200 mph in their standing-mile attempts. What do you think your car...

    TT vs SC

I'm no expert in Top Fuel, but I got some insight into them when I worked part time at an engine shop a long time ago. He built racing engines (street stock, super stock, late model, sprint cars, alcohol dragsters, muscle boat engines, and blown nitro engines). They use 14-71 Roots blowers, spun...

Chad and the Heffner Team hit Texas, ready for the Supras!

Just curious, since we are discussing Supras, does anyone know what the quickest-ever Supra quarter mile time/speed is? (Street and pure race)

2004 GSXR-1000 W/ EXHAUST VS TWIN TURBO VIPER VIDEO...

I think these monster twin turbo Vipers should run in the standing-mile races that they hold at Maxton and Goliad every year. The fastest vehicle at Maxton is a Turbo Busa that went 256 mph, and fastest at Goliad is also a Turbo Busa that went 252 mph. And they only had a half mile to stop! I...

Who read the Car/Driver acticle on pushrod engines?

You answered your own question...it's comparing the power output standardized to a set displacement. It may not have real-world applications to us consumers, but in the design and engineering world, it has some meaning. If you read through science and medical journals, you'll see so many...

Who read the Car/Driver acticle on pushrod engines?

Good points have been made about both engine types. I like engines of all forms, so I'm not biased, but here's a few of my humble opinions... I think the hp/liter number has some value, in terms of comparing different engines. I think of it as a "specific output", where a value can be generated...

Need a tow truck for my viper: Dodge ram diesel or the ford superduty??

Re: Need a tow truck for my viper: Dodge ram diesel or the ford superduty Actually, the PowerStroke Diesel 6.0 is based on International's VT365 6.0 liter engine, which was designed solely for their medium duty truck series. So the PSD 6.0 is derived from a medium duty engine, and is...

    2 Bike Kills On video!!!!

I think it would be cool if the monster-Viper owners got a group together to run at the Maxton standing-mile races. It started this weekend, and the fastest bike has gone 237 mph so far. Last year's winner, on a street legal turbo Busa, went 252 mph. The top ten all-time fastest machines out...

    2 Bike Kills On video!!!!

Congrats on the kills! Before you get too excited though, just remember that a 750 cc bike, although lightweight, has less total engine displacement than one of your 10 cylinders...and I'm thinking the bikes had no turbos either...now go pick on the big bikes! ;)

    DLM Viper vs stock Busa!

A great group of guys went out and did some racing today...a nearly 900 rwhp DLM Viper raced a few stock and not-so-stock Busa's (and a ZX12)...it's good reading! DLM Viper vs stock Busa

Just got whooped by a green Kawasaki

I'd still be careful with today's stock 600 cc bikes, especially from a standstill or a slow roll, as a well-ridden 600 cc superbike can run mid 10's in the quarter, at over 125 mph trap speeds. Now from a highway roll, a stock Viper may be able to outrun a 600 cc, if the rider does not max out...

I just got into the Hot Rod Magazine Pump Gas Drags!

I haven't kept up with Hot Rod magazine for a long time, but I remember ten or eleven years ago, they held a "World's Fastest Street Car" competition, and the cars had to run pump gas, have lights/plates, and had to run slow 25 mile course to show it's streetability. I can't remember the names...

    0-100-0

By today's standards though, the 1994 ZX9 (only 900 cc) is a slow dog. Heavy and underpowered. Ten years has gone by, and the literbike class is the most competitive group in motorcycles. The latest literbikes coming out are gonna be serious business. The Yamaha R1, at 1000 cc's, put's out...

Bikes and Vipers on curvy roads ????

I wouldn't say a car corners 'way' better than a superbike, especially if the bike is ridden by a seasoned racer. Remember that article last year, where a stock GSXR 1000 was run against a stock Z06 at Willow Springs? The bike dominated over the car, beating it by 8 seconds per lap. The car and...
