Anyone else notice the Gen5 trolls have not been around

You guys are really funny. Now let's see the excuses: -the Viper is no longer a drag racer but a road racer and it's OK to be beat by other cars with different set ups. -Let's forget about its inability to be a king in the quarter and only race 60-140. -It turns head everywhere and is special...

Looks like the 2014 SEMA teaser. I don't know about your question. Sorry.

Anyone else notice the Gen5 trolls have not been around

I am still here and not banned yet :). Still love the Viper and waiting to drive another one to confirm my first opinion. A hell of a bargain at 85K. For the guys that do dragstrip and street runs, the Viper has lost its edge. Plain and simple when you can get owned by a tuned 2wd sedan and...

Happy to meet sometimes if you live around SWFL. FL2K is on Saturday and I am going to that. Feel free to PM me or let me know where you live.

    2013 C63 AMG Black for 2014 GTS?

Tough decision you are right. Looks like you love the snake with your previous history. Not sure how good of a deal you got on your BS but you can't go wrong with the pricing offered on the GTS if you shop it right. My only thought is if you find the snake with the color and options you desire...

    2014 srt viper, my 1st

05comm, I don't want to derail the OP thread so that will be my last comment. Why would I pretend? This makes no sense. I have had coupes most of my life (vettes, M3, 911 to name a few). It may sound weird but the Viper, RS5, RS7, R8, M6GC, C7, AMV8S CLS were on my top list. Straight line...

Gen 5 - Red GTS ... $40K off at my local dealership (near Los Angeles, CA)

A carbon edition at 100K would be very, very tempting... A matte paint job is so easy to maintain

    2014 srt viper, my 1st

Congrats on the purchase. Hell of deal. Don't look back and post some pics. I nearly pulled the trigger on a GTS at a benz dealer a few months ago but I felt I could not live with the clutch and how it drove. I am kinda happy I did not as the 15K promo is now in effect. Be careful comparing...

    Charger Hellcat too

I could stay in the Dodge family now, trade my CLS for a charger and buy a $50K Gen V next year (;)) for the week end and track. On a more serious note, thumbs up to Dodge, this is a marketing hit and it will bring revenues. Let's hope it can bring more light to the Viper.

The current and future state of Viper sales and technology

I agree the linkage is smoother ie how it changes from gear to gear. What I mean is that actual pressure needed for the clutch and the gear lever. I was actually being pushed back into my seat when I was pushing the clutch and no I am not a light weight. Maybe it gets better with mileage but I...

The current and future state of Viper sales and technology

The difference with the GTR is that i think people forgot that Nissan introduced it in 2008 at a 72K MSRP and once it became successful, they have increased their price (more than any other sports cars) 35% to 106K...

The current and future state of Viper sales and technology

I tend to mostly agree with the latest comments. My main issue with the new Gen V is the gearbox and the unwillingness to offer a DCT. I did test drive the Gen V and it was the hardest box I have ever driven. This includes (2000 models) All porches, all vettes and all mustangs (even GT500)...

The current and future state of Viper sales and technology

This is actually an interesting comment. Do we have definitive data on the buyers of the Gen V. Someone posted 60% were first time buyers. Can this be confirmed. I have a tough time believing that number and I obviously could be wrong but I really thought that Viper owners were the one keeping...

The current and future state of Viper sales and technology

Today yes, they are in the mid 200s but when the Viper came out 1.5 year ago, there were plenty available in the $170K range which was within $20K of a decked out GTS. It would have been a great investment...

The current and future state of Viper sales and technology

Why aren't Vipers selling in higher numbers? Competition has increased for the $$ spent. Viper used to be the cheapest bang for buck and was equal to or beating super cars. Today, you have Audi R8s, AMG GT, Jag F Type, C7Z06, GTR, Camaro Z28 to name the obvious. They are all more comfortable...

    Since a Stock 2015 Hellcat w/ DR's Just ran 10.85 @126 ph in the 1/4 Mile...

You may want to rething your analogy. Lexus did an amazing job marketing a car that did not have hyper car performance but focused on the engineering feat. MSRP was out of this world at $375k but Toyota still presold the bulk of them. In the US, 150 LFAs were initially sold through a two-year...

Gen V forum posting vitriol discourages SRT/Dodge participation

Maybe I am wrong but I think you are referring to me related to the excuse of not being able to get a test drive. If that is the case, I did get a test drive, reported to this forum my findings and what my issues were with the Viper. Some of you thought I did not have jewelry between my legs...

Gen V forum posting vitriol discourages SRT/Dodge participation

Let me first answer your header subject, I would respectfully disagree. Most manufacturers will spend time on forums under fake names to see what people write and care about. If the staff at Dodge can't handle the heat, then they should not be on the Viper team... give me a break. Forums are...

Going back to my initial thought that I loved the Gen 1 Viper because it was a no excuse raw car that did not give a damn but killed every supercar on the streets and the track. The hellcat is doing it again on the streets / dragstrip and have the bragging rights for 1/2 the cost of a somewhat...

I would be #3 on this site. Nearly bought a Gen-V (see my previous posts) and I am on the list for a Hellcat. Whether I will go thru with the purchase depends if I will like the AMG GT better. I do agree both cars appeal to a different market but it is so easy to justify a Hellcat than a Viper...

    Challenger Hellcat gets 707HP!

Could not have articulated better. The Viper in its current form attracts a very small % of enthusiasts. Status quo means death of the Viper. Keep the SRT as the base model and improve its off the street prowess for track rats, enhance the GTS with AWD and DCT for street domination with 777hp...

    Challenger Hellcat gets 707HP!

Congrats to SRT to come up with something that will compete with its competition (Mustang GT500, Camaro SS etc). The Hellcat is simply bada$$ and that is the kind of statement the Viper needed to make when the Gen V came out. At 60Kish, they will sell all they can produce. However I agree with...

Thanks for the feedback, and keeping it civil :). SRT definitely listened to most of you when they designed the Gen V. Too bad that I could not fit into the profile. I hope the Viper lives on and there are enough of you hard core guys to keep it a business model. I am still a fan in a different...

Very close to becoming a part of the Viper nation. Need forum input

Well after my test drive of a GTS and going over smooth and average roads, here's my analysis: The Pros first: The overall quality versus the Gen 4 I had recently driven is clearly apparent. The inside is night and day and actually comparable to MB C class or Jaguar F Type. Very impressed. Some...
