    Oily mess with Paxton

My guess as well in that it is seal leakage in the supercharger coming out of the bypass. I added a small filter in addition to the bronze filter on the bypass housing as well (partly due to breaking the bronze piece off). I did notice a llittle oil in the vicinity before adding the filter.

Viper to be canceled and new Viper to come in 2012

And again the 1Bad express rolls on. Cannot decipher that all cars are not equal, all drivers are not equal and all environments are not equal. Also, I hope the rest of the world realises that there is more than 1 copy of each and located in many regions. And shut the f up about beating some...

    Viper Logo and Daffy Duck....

It is why I have difficulty wearing shirts with the new logo. From the wearer's vantage point it look Daffy.

    Optima Batteries

The Sears AGM is a flat plate AGM design as compared to the spiral wound type for Optima. There are some specific differences between the types as it relates to max amps, deep draw, overcharge resistance, etc. Most of the Optima issues that I am aware of are related to the low acid volume to...

drive by wire. how does it work?

The situation with the Lexus was not about the throttle. It was about keyless ignition and shift by wire. As it has been stated publicly the throttle pedal was depressed by being caught in the floor mat. the driver (a police officer) did not understand that and tried to turn off the vehicle...

Does a Gen 4 hood blow heat?

I still remember the first summer with the SRT back in 2003. Beautiful weather, 80's, and I had to drive roof up and A/C on during the Woodward Dream Cruise because it was stifling hot inside. That slow crawling speed was the worst. I would swear the interior temps were upwards of 120 F even...

Does a Gen 4 hood blow heat?

Bob thank you for the explanation. Heat coming from the rearward biased hood vents, venting hot engine compartment air, comes in through the open window at the front and over the windshield (obviously only on convertibles). Having improved exhaust has no affect on this hot air flow. The...

Does a Gen 4 hood blow heat?

Bob your experience is not consistent with most. Stock Gen 3's experience heating from many perspectives such as heat behind due to the crossover, heat from below due to the catalyst temps but most of all heat coming in by the A pillar and windshield as the high temps escaping the rearward...

Dealer wont accept my warrenty from USA!!! what do I do ?

There is no such thing as the implied cost of a warranty. Warranty is a future risk as it is applied to a product. How would you propose to provide a cost to It? But you are still missing the point. Cancelling warranty is the ONLY leverage a manufacturer has to influence that people buy...

Dealer wont accept my warrenty from USA!!! what do I do ?

Been discussed many times why policies like this exist. Different countries have different laws, regulations and environments that drive unique vehicle content, certification etc. That by itself makes warranty application world wide for all models impractical as everywhere would have to have...

Dealer wont accept my warrenty from USA!!! what do I do ?

Pretty clear instructions at the beginning of the warranty booklet for vehicles made to US specifications for sale in the US. Note specific exclusion for government employees and military outside of US.

    Supercharger Installer

Hi John. Sorry about not getting back to you earlier today. Been down with a cold (or the flu!!!). I did my own installation of the Paxton system. That was on a Gen III for which Paxton did a very good job creating the system and installation documentation. The Gen II is decidedly more...

My Paxton Viper runs a 12.1 at 121 a mile high. What will a gen 4 run?

Charged engines generally do better at high altitude than NA. A primary reason turbocharged engines are found in higher numbers in mountainous regions. 1Bad you are at it again. Read. Then read again for comprehension. He is only interested in what it will do at high altitudes (his reference...

topless and wet in so. fla.

Ditto on the removing seats and carpets. Left the carpets to hang dry with a fan and a fan inside the car to dry out the sheet metal and such. Ah VOI3 was so much fun. And the 3 inches of water on the floor when we got home. And that was with the roof and windows on.

Replace front tires too?(for traction only)

I have said this in the past and been nailed by my opinion. Less traction in the front causes understeer which is the most predictable and correctable handling flaw. That is why cars have designed in understeer to begin with. As far as providing poor handling characteristic in an emergency...

    Clear Mud Flaps

"Well I would say it works well with you're side spliters but just by themselves I think I wouldn't like the look. I also like that you just parked in some random lot and there happened to be another Viper and a Ford GT there. :) hehe" Here are a few. More than twice that many GT's waiting...

    Clear Mud Flaps

I respectfully disagree. It is a sign of a serious car and not a poser mod. When running 305 Kumhos or Sport Cups I need these to prevent chipping the entire side of the car. Most people do not even see that they are there when right beside the car. So are the hardtop and roll bar poser also?

    Battery

My 2003 battery is now only capable of a 80% state of charge. I would guess that I have only 1 year left before it is toast. All batteries decay over time and use. Some faster than others for sure. And the batteries capacity to handle extended battery drain or IOD (ignition off draw) is...

    Lotus makes the Viper frame?

Given that the ex ( as of 2 weeks ago) Exec VP of Tesla engineering, mfg, and quality was a Chrysler engineer for most his career I would think that Tesla people would have better information. Everyone that has been to CAAP knows they build their own chassis. What they may have been referring...

    Viper and Active handling

Why discuss something the government is actively working on forcing implementation of. If you are against it write your congressman or NHTSA. No one here can stop government's progress in controlling our lives [hint of sarcasm].

2:34 lap around Road America in a 06 First Edition

I concur with the comment that you cannot see the gauges. That said many have experienced oil pressure drops while in long hard turns. For me I had to slow in a particularly long left turn (double apex) where I could watch the oil pressure drop. Clearly due to the oil pickup becoming uncovered...
