What the viper needs is some vocal amatuers to go out in stock non acr vipers and lay some times down. The acr has dominated but the non acr has hardly any representation. Car and Driver has a lightning lap from 07 but the time is slower than gtr gt3 zo6 and Ferrari. Its also 9 seconds slower...
Agree, Ralph is certainly talking about chassis dynamics. The Gen III and IV are both rather soft and for good reason. The vast majority of the people that buy them have no idea how to control one. So making it softer makes it more forgiving, slower to react, and safer which is needed...
That's nonsense, in today's world, pretty much anything going fast has R-compound in the tire somewhere. The ZR-1's tires are called PS2's but they are sticky as heck, a hybrid tire. Same for the GT-R, which have been tested back to back with R888's and run as fast or faster than the Toyo's...
Hard to imagine the Gen V having better braking with far less aero. Aero has a huge affect on braking.
In fact it's the main reason cars with aero are faster. They can make up speed lost on the straight in the braking zone, and then corner faster.
If (And only if) the Gen V is on Cups I think it can eek out a faster lap at a track or two if conditions are right. However on average I expect the ACR to handily beat it. As fast as the outgoing ZR-1 would be a huge step up from the Gen IV (non-ACR). And frankly anything slower than the...
It will be a while (I.E. never) if clubs continue to pay double the price to drive there and they are booked all year. It's new and fresh now, so people will jump at it, but how long can a track maintain that, and how many clubs can afford it? Not to mention, what else do they have going on...
I agree, I doubt the GTS will be tested at all unless it's done by a magazine which I don't even know how many of these will be sold in Europe. Even then, beating the ZR'1 is far fetched especially with a magazine driver. And I doubt the Corsas are faster than Sport Cups.
As for McClaren and...
I voted I would pay, but I think they should wait it out. The price will come down.
I'd rather them add another entire event to the schedule than pay twice as much for COA.
You should try Race Render, it's pretty fantastic, costs about $35 but you can import your data and video and combine them all, add PIP from multiple camera's, overlay the data you imported from RLC (it is compatible) onto the video with tach, speedo, lap counter, timers, track map and then...
I was about to ask that same question. When I first saw the for sale sign on your other car I thought you were putting the X up for sale already. The price on that car should be mighty tempting for someone!
What are you talking about?
#1 DSG will add 60-80 lbs to the weight of the car
#2 DSG has nothing to do with cornering speed, the vehicle can corner as fast as it can corner (manual or dual clutch), you will have already selected a gear in Manual or DSG before you are turning. If you can't do...
I'm sure they had to know the modernization would irk some Viper faithful, but it was necessary for the life of the marquee. Their feelings will be hurt if it doesn't SELL.
I think the car will sell just fine. Now for some reviews!
Because he scoured the net for something to put down the new Viper and found that the drag coefficient was equal to a lot of cars, and picked the worst sounding one he could to make it sound bad.
Insecurity is great.
Agree +1
People actually have the nerve to whine about HP wars and a Mustang have more power on paper (like that's going to matter when they line up next to each other). Do some people not realize the benefits of a larger wheelbase, 100 less lbs, less drag, and more chassis stiffness? This...
I sure hope the guys complaining aren't the ones holding up traffic driving all slow in their Vipers. And never using even 300 of the 600 hp they already have.
A mustang is not competition for a Viper, period. They made more hp than a ZR-1, and with the base model Viper. There has to be an...
