Any words of wisdom for driving in the rain.... other than "DON'T "

Re: Any words of wisdom for driving in the rain.... other than You can go just as fast in the wet as in the dry....you just can't turn or stop as well. Seriously, get braking done early in a straight line and be judicious with the throttle. With good tires hydroplaning starts at about 9 times...

    Considering Road Racing

One of the best things one can do is get seat time in the car on the track. Super! Another person about to jump into the most fun thing you can do fully clothed. Congratulations. It's extremely fun, rewarding, challenging and frustrating at times. Don't mod the car yet other than track pads, SS...

fiberglass side covers for a gen 1

Regarding the heat wrap. I ended up wrapping with just about everything there is after my heat shield was torn at TMS last year. Flames, and/or scorching were the result in each case. Please let my experience be your Guinea Pig. I'd recommend using either the OEM heat shield or the Iconel...

Exhaust heat shieds fit them or not?

I believe in function over form. Headers are for power not looks. Lots of stuff to discolor, scorch, or combust under the hood. Heat shields on. Besides it's the cool thing to do! Groaning may now commence. Cheers, Jim

Replacement Side Sill Heat Shield Material Needed

Howdy Newt Did you notice the burns on my sill at TWS. After tearing my shield at TMS we used a host of different materials while waiting for a replacement. ALL OF THEM caught on fire. My recommendation is use either OEM or the Inconel shield. Cheers, Jim

    After Market Wheels

I'm looking at new wheels as well. The Pruners certainly look nice and many folks use them. I understand though that there was an issue with some of the Pruners and one of the new tires at the last Viper Days. The wheel tire combo did not fit properly and was damaging the wheel wells. You may...

Michelin Pilot Cup reviews and/or updates?

Thanks PDM you'll get no debate from me regarding your observations. I totally agree that tires are a big safety issue. I replace mine at least every other event. My point for bringing up guys who are fast on a year old tire was in response to the Bugeaters origninal query as to whether the...

Michelin Pilot Cup reviews and/or updates?

Hi all, I'm a Challenge guy. I run Super Stock on the street Michelins. Yes I spent $ on brake cooling. roll bar, Seat, harness, and fire suppression, but many haven't. A couple of points. 1. The Viper comes with Michelins so it's nice that new guys can show up and run without buying a...

Problems with Woodhouse frame recall, Details inside.......

Errors and mistakes will always happen with people involved. It seems most dealers or vendors don't reply to negative comments (whether valid or not) as it would tend to add fuel to the fire. It's good to see positive progress on all sides and the fact that Woodhouse would reply with how he will...

    Hoosier's , Tire Pressures & Track Temps

Re: Hoosier\'s , Tire Pressures & Track Temps After finding a starting cold pressure; a pyrometer is really the only way to go. Coming in after some hot laps will tell you a huge amount from how your suspension is working to how much to adjust your pressures. Hot pressure readings are far too...

Few more stupid Viper Days questions

Bill, Dee Dee Not stupid questions at all...I had lots of questions before my first event earlier this year too. 1.Drive the Viper down if you wish; many people will. If something does break I can't think of a better place. Unlike other driver education/track events; Viper Days enjoys...

what is up with this? typical of viper owners??

Having Corvettes, Porsches, a Panoz Roadster, a Ferrari, a Viper, and belonging to the clubs of each, a couple of observations. The owners are actually pretty much the same. Most have worked hard and like to play hard. Most are great people who love their cars, who love to talk about it's...
