I didn't put them back on after I installed my headers. They look too good to cover up. I've got about 500 miles on them and I have noticed more heat under the hood if I lift it after going for a drive than I did before I put on the headers. I may eventually go back to heat shields, but I don't know yet. If I was just going by what I've seen so far, just leave them off. Of course you may see me on here in a few months posting about problems I've had because I didn't put them on. :D I got them Jet Hot coated and they claim as much as a 50% decrease in surface temperature, but if that is true, I'd hate to see how hot they'd get uncoated. I'm not so sure the coating is the hype.

I put the shield boots on the plug wires and left off the shields. Looks much better, headers are to sweet to hide.

I believe in function over form. Headers are for power not looks. Lots of stuff to discolor, scorch, or combust under the hood. Heat shields on. Besides it's the cool thing to do! Groaning may now commence.

Jim,

I'll be the first to start groaning. You know we all have a little poser in us, let us show off our headers - they cost too much to keep covered up...

I have Edelbrock heat shields...looks fine. Don't know if they would fit your application though.
