Ring Gap on Forced Induction Engines

I have Speed Pro Hellfire rings and Ross pistons with oil holes. The top ring is about 0.25" below the top ring. The pistons are milled for lower compression.

Ring Gap on Forced Induction Engines

I'm getting ready to install my DLM Level II system and was wondering what is the proper ring gap for use in this application? I've heard values ranging from 0.020" to 0.030" for the top ring and 0.024" to 0.035" for the second ring. Thats quite a spread and I was hoping to narrow it down a bit...

My custom 10 rib system is complete. Pics.

Great work Adam, what parts were necessary to complete the fuel cooler? I saw a small oil cooler on Summit a while ago and thought that might work well in conjunction with cutting a hole in the pan and bolting on a small "scoop".

Why not use and tune to Propane's 110 or so octane?

Re: Why not use and tune to Propane\'s 110 or so octane? I've been wondering about this as well. An alternaitve fuel that will give you similiar performance while reducing dependence on Middle East fuel would be great. Don't forget being able to use the HOV lane!!!

\'97 Heads verses \'01 Heads Just wondering if there are any differences in '97 heads and '01 heads? I may be purchasing ported heads from a '97 to install on my '01 and want to be sure they are the same. Thanks, Jim

    Display your Viper! Cool Bonus!!!

Wow, you nailed it! I backed up about 50 feet from the shoulder of the road, very slowly I might add. I took the picture Thursday between Show Low and Springerville in eastern Arizona. I thought the cinder cone in the background made for a unique picture.

Is there actually an ARP kit available with fasteners for the heads/connecting rods, etc. or do you have to buy them separately?

    My engine job begins

Carl, Great post! I plan on doing virtually the same thing this summer except I have a centrifugal type SC. Please post any "lessons learned" or tips on the whole project. I was planning on removing the engine for easier access when doing the pistons/heads, etc. Is it fairly easy to do it with...

    Removing Rear End

Yep, it's a 3", but you have the big question about spacing between the tubes, hold on let me measure it..........at the cover/3rd member interface there is 8.5 inches of clearance and at the pinion seal it is 14 inches.

Kumho V700 rears = best performance mod on my car so far. Amazing tires.

Re: Kumho V700 rears = best performance mod on my car so far. Amazing tires Hey, you just reminded me. When I get the SC on, I'll probably want to go back to 3.07's, since I'll probably have around 850 rwhp so if you haven't bought you 3.55's yet maybe we can make a deal?

    Removing Rear End

I did mine with Corsa exhaust installed. You just have to rotate/twist/turn the third member a bit to get it out. The install was easier than the removal due to not having to pry it loose from the cover. They use really strong grey silicone sealant and I had to use a bottle jack between the...

need paint protection for sticky tires

Hey Phoenix, the DLM II is sitting in my garage along with Belangers, Ron Davis radiator, intercooler, forged pistons, (hold on let me go check to see what else)....oh yes, 1000 hp half shafts and ACR Koni's with 500 lb front and 750 lb. rear Hyperco springs (I installed those last weekend, can...

need paint protection for sticky tires

Ok, I'll probably get flamed for this , but has anyone ever tried small mudflaps? My buddy has them on his Cobra, I don't think they look bad at all, and most importantly they are functional and affordable ($12.00 at Autozone). They aren't predrilled, so you can match them up with the existing...
