Ahhh, I still had my old 96 Viper powertrain diagnostics manual from my previous Viper and was able to confirm that P0132 is indeed the left upstream 02 sensor.
Hopefully this will help someone in the future...
After reading through all the posts I could find, I couldn't find a definitive answer but I am guessing it's the driver side upstream which is near the exhaust manifold, not after the cat. Is this correct? If not, which 02 sensor is bank 1, sensor 1 (P0132)?
Well I drove it last night and of course the ambient temp was coolor so the car did run a bit cooler but still not cool enough for what I think is normal. I owned my 96 Viper for 3 years and it never once was as hot as this one runs. This one runs 15-25 degrees hotter. Strange thing is that my...
Yes, was the green stuff. I may just take it into Maxwell Dodge and let them deal with it.
I recently replaced the heater core in my 71 corvette stingray and don't care to do that again. I'm sure it's not any easier on the Viper.
thanks, i did that before I hooked it up. I also filled it up with water, then rigged a hose between the in/out and pressurized it with about 20lbs of compressed air and no leaks as well.
I connected the heater hoses back to the core and drove it for about 20 minutes, came back, no visible leaks. I checked under the passenger floorboard as well, under the car, etc... heater works now.
yes, the upper radiator hose gets hot. no other "redneck" mods visible unless you want to call...
ok, got it. there was a bunch of rubber/sealant stuff covering the cut off hose and clamp. Pulled/cut that all off and now I see the copper pipe fitting for the hose.
Is there any way to check for leaks of this core, short of connecting the heater hoses and pressurizing the system?
I would...
Does anyone have a photo of what the heater core attachments are suppsoed to look like? The horizontal one on my core looks good but the vertical one looks odd and not smooth on the top, a bit chipped. Perhaps there is supposed to be a nozzle here for the hose to be clamped to, or it an interior...
Alrighty... I now know why my 97 GTS is not blowing hot air through the ducting. The previous owner has bypassed the heater core. So, the question is... what are some of the possible reasons they would have done this and will this has anything to do with the car running hotter than it...
just went out to check the heater valve as dave suggested and yes, the heater valve moves on the core...
When I turned the switch to the on position, I also checked the temp and it's up to a needle width away from the red mark I guess from heat soak. This is not good. This is ridiculous.
btw, the temp was on the 3rd center tick when idling, sitting but goes up to the last white tick and just beyond when driving, little traffic, 45-60 mph, stopping for the occasional light.
Bummer. This SUCKS. Fluid was flushed and refilled at shop.
I drove it a few miles and the temp is still the same, actually went just past the last white mark and stayed there. No heat coming from heater either. Just ambient/residual air from the a/c being on.
Temp here is close to 100...
Well I just took it down to my corner garage (LAMB's automotive) where I have taken all my cars through the years and am going to let them flush the system and fill it with a pressurized system. We'll see if that fixes these issues... Will post back in a few hours...
Dave... not sure if the...
Ok, yup, read through a bunch of posts but thought I would throw this out there in case someone has had the exact same issue.
Just got this particular 1997 GTS, previous owner couldn't drive well apparently and went on an off-road excursion, collecting lots of mud and grass. That's all cleaned...
Oh, I don't know. Maybe Ken's just smarter than me?? Wait... no that can't be it. :) LOL Just haven't done that yet. Maybe if he and Maurice twist my arm, I'll do it. I haven't been around the forum for a few years since I sold my first Viper (RT) back in 05. He bought his GTS a fews...
Hey Johnny,
I would just buy the hi-flow cats and be done with it. The best sound in my opinion, is high-flow cats, no side resonators with rear mufflers.
