Hello, Ivory...it has been a long time since we have spoken !!
I totally agree with your summation of John Gastman's Roanoke Motors operation. They are first class in my book...noting that it "starts at the top". Through the years, they have sold, serviced, solved issues on many of my fellow...
While many enjoy typing long answers, I favor a verbal dialog. This is especially true when discussing the many recalls for the 2013's as well as understanding the system on the R28 and R 29 recalls.
Call me if you like...or, if your budget permits and all other criteria are equal (preferably...
Aside from a leaking hose or a hole in the radiator, there are two main reasons that fluid runs out from underneath the right front after a drive: First is that one just tapped a parking lot curb stone and drove a closeout panel bolt through the bottom corner of the bottle..which is unlikely as...
Thanks, VOtterViper....and, YES I know both "Dan's". While it was known that 2001 Vipers frequently had early water pump failures...it should be noted that some 2000's suffered the same fate along with some 2002's.
Your cooling system has 8 hoses and two separate "tanks". It is critical to...
VOtterViper, sorry about your overheating troubles. While you may be totally correct with your diagnosis of a bad water pump, there are a couple of other things to consider.
But before getting into that, I would like to know:
Your definition of "already built" from as stated in a prior post...
Hi, ViperTim.
The reference by your friend concerning "a computer from a Cherokee..." is likely referring to the JTEC (Jeep/Truck Engine Controller) which was used on the 1996 R/T 10 which was the last Gen I production motor for a Viper. Some loosely refer to this model as a Gen 1.5 with its...
Good info, Dan. As I regularly get calls from our European friends with a variety of questions, I am sure that some will contact you once they have read this post.
You may already be aware that there is an open Facebook group called Viper zones of Europe. A post in that group might help inform...
No and no to the first two questions concerning this particular Viper.
The value of this Viper is a harder call...but remember 22,000 miles/ 3 owner Viper raises many questions. "Extremely clean" does not determine current mechanical condition or status of "electrical components, past driving...
vpr97, before you go too far, you might want to state your driving intentions...be that street (for looks) vs. track. If track (as I suspect), you may find that different series/drivers ed venues have different tech requirements which may/may not recognize the adequacy of your pending choice.
Condolences are offered to your family, Christine. Mad Prof offered many constructive solutions to Viper issues over the years. His opinions were both valued and respected at a global level. R.I.P., My Friend !!
It is well known that there was only one factory built 2008 violet Viper convertible with aero built. One of my fellow IN/KY owners had it for many years prior to severe health issues. There is a bit more to the history.
There is confirmation about the uniqueness of its production in the 2009...
I sure am hoping that it is nothing major. Another sound/vibration that I remember being chased on Gen IV's was exhaust components making light contact with other surfaces...especially after modifications.
OK, I'll quit taking wild guesses now.
Not trying to alarm you...but I vaguely recall something a bit more subtle (at first) concerning 2008's with possible problematic yokes in the valve train which allowed some of the rollers to rotate 90 degrees and eat the camshaft.
Just one of many random thoughts. :)
Great job, Sir !!
Message to South Florida Viper Owners:
This gentleman is a knowledgeable, experienced technician who runs a mobile service. Speaking with him was a real pleasure. If you need assistance, give him a call.
What year?
If indeed a Gen II, fuel pump relay and fuse are in a small closed rectangular box in the extreme left side of "trunk". Remove lid for map.
Suggest that after you check fuse, you remove FP relay they firmly repeat it. If you cannot fear pump turn on then off as pressure rises...
