At 26+ years old, my '96 had this problem on both doors. I removed the door panels and adjusted each hinge and striker plate so that after a button press, the doors pop open about 1" - exactly like they did when the car was brand new. They closed easily, snapped firm and the door gaps were...
Hang tough Brother! In that spirit - I spent a full day at COTA last Thursday running (4) 30-minute sessions on a restricted entry day. It was Glorious! My car was Born On 5/29/96 and last Thursday was 1 day short of it's 30th Birthday. 42,600 miles - over 6000 on a race track somewhere. People...
With all fresh bushings, you can start with all 8 cam pairs pointed straight up in their slots. Unless the car has been bent, that should get you a pretty benign caster/camber setting and all you need to do is set the toe to spec. Once you've found a good shop, they can fine-tune to your driving...
The Y2K EPA emissions regs were tightening significantly and they were really having to engineer these motors to comply with lower hydrocarbon limits. The cams were re-spec'd with less overlap, (at least partly due to complaints about NGR at idle) but no published change in advertised horsepower...
That sounds like a very logical course of action. Here is what a typical check valve in the pump discharge nip ple looks like. The pump on the right has it, the left one does not. I guess it's possible for the thing to come apart, get into the regulator and lodge the bypass window partially...
I have never had one of these apart, but found the patent online and it did include a non-serviceable filter inside. If the production Viper regs were set up this way, it's no wonder they are failing over time. The regs should pass minor particles to an easily serviceable primary filter so the...
I would suggest you check the ball joints for looseness before just deciding to replace them. It is far more likely that your inner tie rods are loose and worn out. Get the tires off the ground, grab the wheels at 3 and 9, then shake them back and forth to feel for play and knocking. Any more...
Sad, but true. The fact that the place became a Gen 5 reacharound makes it all the more inexcusable and those responsible should be flogged in public. Maintaining the Technical Forums is worthy of Viperdom's highest efforts.
The engine shop is asking me what this exact value is and I don't happen to know it. The internet can't give a reliable answer, so I'm asking real people who might know *with certainty*. Thanks in advance!
Run the engine in the dark and look for wire arcing. Pull plugs 5, 7 and 9 to compare them. Look carefully for signs of ceramic cracks, or grounding paths from wire/boot to plug heat shields.
I'm using Valvoline 75W-140 synthetic in the handy squeeze bag. It already has the friction modifier in it. Our diffs don't hold a lot of oil and if you're running it at the track with regularity, I recommend changing about every 12-18 months.
Cooler, pump and lines probably hold 2/3 of the system capacity. The left and right sides of the rack tube account for the balance. I vacuum out the reservoir, turn the wheel lock to lock 3-4x and vacuum out the reservoir again. Then I remove the return line and push a 1/4" vacuum tube as far...
