Cold Start & Idle Video – Viper Gen 3 – Does This Sound Healthy?

To my ear, the only problem is it needs some aftermarket exhaust =)

To ABS, or to not ABS.... That is the Question.

If you stumble on a final addition car, know that the serial number doesn't correspond to the actual production number of the car. Of the many things dealerships get wrong with Vipers, final edition cars were slapped with "a badge", not the car number as it came off the production line. Final...

To ABS, or to not ABS.... That is the Question.

I agree with everyone's points to what appears to be your wheelhouse. Beyond knowledge for differences in year groups, I get the impression that ABS or no, either car will give you everything you're looking for. Find a car you like and get out there feeling good behind the wheel of an icon.

To ABS, or to not ABS.... That is the Question.

The difference in the cams is a slightly more aggressive profile with the 708 cam, in layman's terms, sounds lumpy like an aftermarket cam. They went away from that cam in 2000 to cut back on car and shifter vibration. I like the sound from the 708 cam with aftermarket exhaust. The forged...

    New owner

03 too old lmfao. Translated...it's an uncommon sports car that we don't want to be on the hook for. It's happened to many in this forum, myself included. I'm sure you can find a reputable shop that can do good work on your car, might have to widen the search area or get a little creative, i.e...

Pre Purchase Inspection for Rebuild Title

No regrets on buying the rebuilt car. It is my dream car which is a 2nd gen ACR, so my overall price to value was pretty high on the car. To me it's all about understanding that it is a different type of depreciation. As long as you aren't upside down in the price paid and worth of the car...

Pre Purchase Inspection for Rebuild Title

Just some food for thought from a rebuilt title owner. Those years of clean reasonable or low mileage cars are trading hands within 10k of that asking price. A 20 year old car may need freshening up i.e. rubber parts like suspension bushings, hoses, tires, etc. If you have a genuine love of...

1993 RT/10 randomly wouldn't fire on startup, now dead. Weird!

Casey? Off topic, but you got an update on the 97 race upgrades?

    Source for "factory" brakes

If you jump on ebay, there are some budget friendly options. R1 concepts usually has a lot of rotor options that won't break the bank. Personal opinion, stick with solid or slotted rotors, pass on the drilled unless you want to deal with the potential of cracking rotors. Putting holes in rotors...

    Another Viper crash

That is really tragic to say the least. My driving habits have evolved as I have gotten older...I save my spirited driving for the track. Stay safe folks and enjoy the summer driving without becoming a statistic.

    Painted Stripes? Aftermarket or Stock?

Yep, those are factory stripes. 1996 was a transition year for the rt10 from a gen 1 to a gen 2 car, usually referred to as a gen 1.5 car. Those stripes are one of the visual cues for a 1996 rt10.

What did you do to your viper today?

Changed some AC line O rings. Tomorrow I'll check the system. If all looks good, then I'll recharge my AC.

1997 Dodge Viper GTS 10k Miles For Sale Venice Florida

I think the point Viper Specialty is making is that few Vipers have appreciated over the years. Most are at or well below MSRP for a hand built, iconic, low production sports car. These cars are only worth what someone is willing to pay, and our community genuinely does their best to keep these...

New to the Viper forums, looking to knock on this guys door and give him a offer for this 8 year yard ridden gen 2

Thanks for the update. Hopefully the guy follows through and gets it into the shop. Hurts my soul to watch cars needlessly fall into disrepair. If I had a dollar for every car I have seen falling apart with the "I'm going to fix/restore that car" excuse...well I would have taken those dollars a...

    Tapping noise

You have a Calvo car, problem solved. Good problem to have =) Have you been able to get a friend to help you out? Easier to isolate tricky noises when you replicate the situation with another persons ears and eyes from a different vantage point.

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Thx for the update, and another great looking Viper. One of these days I'll get out to a runway to see what kind of time I can throw down, and to have an absolute blast. Are you planning any testing/shake down events before the October run?

New to the Viper forums, looking to knock on this guys door and give him a offer for this 8 year yard ridden gen 2

These cars are definitely for the love of ownership more than the financial sense in most instances. The Viper is a contender for restoration assuming you get it at the right price, and can do the work yourself. Many parts are still very available and affordable, but other parts will test your...

    Looking for this car!

https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1997-dodge-viper-11/ Forgot these were that rare. Here is a second one that sold on B.A.T. a while back. That's at least 2 out of your 7 so far.

    Looking for this car!

Tough one with no VIN, but the gold wasn't that common. Couldn't hurt to flip through VIN Wiki with a Viper search. If you're lucky it has a documented history, if not...these cars move around a lot. If you have access to old docs like registration, insurance, or purchase/sale paperwork that'd...

99 RT/10 power steering reservoir cap

As others have mentioned, I highly recommend DIY'n or purchasing a vent hose for the cap. You can route the hose in a way that locks the cap in place. I had some steel braided fuel line laying around that worked great. Always thought it was strange that Vipers had that many storries of losing...

    speedometer calibration box instructions

It does look very similar to the paperwork that I have for mine...well, the one I haven't gotten around to installing anyway. I'm sure they have had different generations and paperwork over the years.
