    The Quest for 275 MPH

We run E85 and will probably have both a street tune and a track tune that both will use E85. I run Ethanol One "R" and buy it in 55 gal drums. Keeps that blend consistent vs the local gas stations. Landspeed does have a few more issues with heat due to the amount of time you are WOT. The E85...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Thanks Dean, I definitely like that it's not over the top and just cruising down the road probably looks stock to 99%+ of the people in the world. I have always said that Vipers make a perfect car for anyone in witness protection because nobody looks at the driver, they only look at the car.

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Here are pictures of the dash plate wrapped in flat black, we put sponsor decals in that area so they are visible in the videos and passenger seat is installed if anyone wants to volunteer to ride along :). Also, tech inspection requires any throttle body that isn't drive by wire have (2)...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

It definitely is a noise I've been waiting almost 4 years to hear. Next, I need to be in the driver's seat and cruising around central Florida to get use to all the new quirks it will have now. At twice the WHP, sequential, quad carbon clutch and a lot more mods it will be a bit different car...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Here's a video of Blucifer start up after more than a few years of starting this build. https://youtu.be/n83QFJUYtSo?si=xiqzAosmEzLsIVfG

    The Quest for 275 MPH

On a really great day for me, just like Christmas, Blucifer started up yesterday and idled. I'm heading to Gearhead tomorrow and will try to figure out how to post a video of it running. I will probably need a 10-year-old to help me with posting the video. At this point the dyno won't be much...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

It would be at ECTA Arkansas mile in Blytheville. They do 1/2, 1 and 1.24 ( 2 km ) runs. I believe the dates are May 1st for tech inspection and then run May 2nd, 3rd and 4th. If I can get everything together I will make an attempt at 275+ on the 4th. Come run or watch if you are able to, hoping...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Here is the new Motec M150 installed and the harness connected. We will be loading a base tune soon and once all the other wiring work is done, we can move it to the dyno. It has been a long journey getting Blucifer to this point and I can't wait to drive it.

    The Quest for 275 MPH

I had originally planned to run in Maine but currently my first attempt at some big speed will be in Arkansas, probably in May. I will see how that goes and then plan the next event after that. I will do some 1/4 mile and maybe a 1/2 mile if an opportunity comes up prior to May just to make sure...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Here's a few more of the harness components being installed.

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Just sharing some more pics of the build. We decided to go Motec on Blucifer and ordered that along with Boomslang harnesses for everything. Gearhead is getting everything installed and once we have a base tune in it we can start it after so many delays. They also installed some NACA ducts to...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

We are still finishing those last few items on the list. Here are a few pictures of the exhaust as it exits the rear bumper. The paper template will be used to make a carbon fiber flange for the pipes. Also the nitrous control switches will be on the console so they are easy to reach. I always...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Parachutes handles are installed in the console area. I wanted to keep them adjacent to the shifter just so I don't need to look for them overhead. The location basically allows me to keep my eyes on the track. The handles are interlocked mechanically so that the smaller/longer chute has to be...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

There definitely wasn't a need for a more expensive pipe for the wastegates, although I've totally gave up on saving any money on this build.

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Had some issues with the pushrods, they were fractionally too long and were hanging the valves slightly open when Gearhead tried to start it. I do want to say Gearhead didn't supply the pushrods. At this point we are working on new pushrods or trying to determine if we have enough adjustment on...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Gearhead is finishing up the exhaust pipes to exit thru the bumper, going to look like a Gen 2 in that regard. Pipes will go maybe 2" pass the bumper. After that is done we can design and fab the new diffuser. We also got the ProEFI tune and that means it's time to load it up and get this beast...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

All the little details on the list are getting crossed off quickly. Here is a few pictures that show the plate that keeps cold side pipes, silicone hose and throttle body from coming apart with high boost. Eventually I will design and machine a clamp block from billet aluminum to make it all...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Thanks, It's getting there finally, I think it's been 4 plus years since I ran it to 252+. It is time to go again before I get too old and can't crawl in the cage anymore.

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Here is a pic of the hatch area pretty much finished along with the toe lift in event throttle cable sticks wide open. It's so close to starting at this point. All the fluids are going in today, crazy how much oil it holds......approx 7 gallons, going to be some expensive oil changes :). Should...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Afternoon all, we are closing in on the day Blucifer will once again roam the streets of Florida. Gearhead continues to finish up line items on that list. The PCM is coming alive, the Can Bus display is lit up and showing us information, the guys at ProEFI have been extremely helpful in getting...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

I'm looking forward to seeing those numbers myself. If we finish in time to make a few passes in Arkansas it will mainly be used for shakedown. It will probably be 2025 before it's ready for a 275+ pass.

    The Quest for 275 MPH

Very true, we will run some liquid that allows us to achieve temps below freezing. Probably be a little bit of an experiment to get the flow of C02 regulated correctly so we don't freeze the liquid to a solid. For our early testing we will just run water and ice and monitor the results.
  24. FST SNAKE

    The Quest for 275 MPH

We definitely have added weight over the rear wheels and probably less weight up front. Stock Vipers are close to 50/50 already and I would guess we have changed that slightly. Most of the items were placed in their current location based completely on what the design required with the rear...

    The Quest for 275 MPH

At this point every line/hose is connected, battery is wired up thru disconnect, nitrous lines, solenoids, and purge are completed. Plan is to start it up in next 7 to 9 days, let it go thru a few heat cycles and then shut it down. The following morning we will retorque the heads, have to do...
