Actually, the wheels are reinforced, powder-coated and polished. I like the stock wheels! The stock ones are now the rare ones. It makes it look "Viperish". -You spelled "Dropped" wrong...
Ya know, I think you might be right! I hadn't thought about that. I loved that movie at the time (high school). I actually love the Sapphire Blue with white stripes the best. However, that only looks good on a coupe. You think "Smokey and the Bandit" is rough, how about all the people who...
Nope! That's one thing I had to give up. But what-the-hey, I don't drive it in the rain anymore anyway.
As for the guy who thinks it's ugly, that's OK. My girlfriend wasn't too happy with it at first either. She thought I "goobered" that poor Viper up even more. I kinda like the "Retro"...
Several people have asked to see my new hood, designed by Jerry Wolfe and manufactured at his Studio. It was supposed to take two months. That was a year and a half ago! I just picked it up yesterday. It still needs a "rub-out" or two, but you'll get the idea.
When I received my Doug Levin...
Pretty much any of the GEN-II DLM cars would smoke me clean off the road. I'd loose even before we ran. Other GEN-II Vipers, however, are a different story :D
Doug (DLM) actually builds custom Systems to order, not kits. Every System is a bit different than the next. It's quite involved actually, so you might want to contact Doug himself. He's a great guy!
Just an update of a DLM every-day driver Monster Viper:
The car still runs better than new after thousands of miles and well over a year of CA driving!!
I was just out at Infineon (Sears Point to us Locals) on Sunday in the Viper/Prowler corral. It reminded me that I've been too busy to...
There are at least three different sizes, all within a few millimeters of each other. The most common is 8" x 4" x 8" (what I used). Two eight inch stripes, four inches apart. This is close enough and easy to do...
I forgot to mention that you should keep a few extra rear tires around, as they don't last very long! It's the whole "fish-tail at 145mph" thing.
I don't want to twist the car in half, so I've settled on changing the Pilots on the rear more often as opposed to getting stickier tires...
I've got the H.P. and Torque to do "9's" (as several of us do), but don't have the hook-up. I'm working through Jerry Wolfe with Papalo Racing right now to redesign and replace the drivetrain. If possible (I stress "IF"), then this might do the trick. I'm not wasting any more time on getting...
To be honest, Doug likes to talk price himself. Each car is different, so each price is different. I must respect his wishes on the "Money" topic. However, I'll take a chance and say that I could have purchased just about any new American luxury car off the lot for what my engine project cost...
Hi Superbar:
My DLM Viper is very very very reliable. I drive it almost every day. It is not overly lopey at all. Actually it's a lot smoother than it was stock (Viper lurch gone...).
As for the track, it is more than reliable enough. I have raced around Sears Point a lot (45 mins from my...
It's pushing the Viper's rear end as well as mine!
Actually, Doug replaced the half-shafts with some really strong ones from JonB. I get a little rough sometimes with my car (always forces me to order new rear tires!), and everything is holding tight...
I love the car!!!!!!!
The best part about the DLM upgrade is the fact that it is actually smoother running (non-boost) than it was when it was "stock". It purrs like a kitten, until you boost. Boost is when all he!! breaks loose!!
I've not only beat everything I've raced (including two...
This is what Doug Levin (DLM) can do with a 1995 RT-10 GEN-1: :D
We're talking over 1000hp at the crank...
Very low "10's" in the quarter, and 75mph to 150mph in about 3 seconds!
I tried, but no takers! It was funny. I talked with pilots about their Jets, as I was more interested in that than my Viper, but they were more interested in the Viper.
I took a couple for a "Test Drive" (a violent action with a DLM motor) and they said they had never been in anything that...
I bought mine, because I didn't have one...
The best use I get out of my Viper is donating it to as many charitable events as I can. Even if it's not good for the car (used as a "Play-Set" at an Airshow!). What's the point if you can't share it? When the Lamborghini Countach was first...
