Thanks. The other solution you show is very complex and an added box. Mine is extremely simple and can be easily put back to production configuration :-)

I found the cause to be the pump relay wire (brown), which is normally grounded through the PCM, was cut off PMC conn P1 pin 19 and attached directly to the main grd post below the PCM.
This allows the fuel pump to be continuously ON when the key is ON prior to starting...
I disconnected the battery and unplugged the 3 connectors on the side of the pcm.
After reinstalling the connectors and hooking up the battery I still have the same issue.
I cleared the fault code with the handheld. The fuel pump runs continuously with the key ON before I crank the engine.

I replaced the pump module relay and ASD relay, no change.
Also disconnected and reconnected the positive and negative jump cables under the hood at the fuse box location.
No change :-( I still get continuous pump running and P1282 fault.
Hey Team need your help to understand why my 1998 Gen 2 fuel pump keeps running with the key ON but before I crank the engine.
