I’m a recent owner of a 1997 GTS. I’m updating the wheels to 20” rear and 19” front. Wanting to know if anyone can provide information on tire sizing.

Isn't that the stock wheel size for gen 3+? If so you should just be able to use the standard tire size for anything 2003 and newer. Maybe they are 18/19 stagger though, can't remember off the top of my head.

thank you for your help yes I believe the
gen 3 run 18’s and 19’s
The tires I was considering are Michelin
345/30/20 rear and 275/35/19

The tire sizes you posted look a lot like the size used for the OEM 18“ and 19“ setup; I’d have to go look on my car but…. Meaning the sidewall and width of the tires are the same measurements >>> but they are taller by an inch in diameter. I would think that would mess with your speedometer readings. The sidewall measurement needs to be smaller for proper fitment.

Thank you for your help . I have a friend that is running the same combo on a gen 3 and they fit fine but I was wondering if
the gen 2 has enough room . Would anyone know if the 345/25/20 rear and 285/35/19 front will clear . I do understand that the speedometer will be affected by the new tire sizes .

A large point or purpose of going to a larger diameter wheel is to also get the visual and potential performance enhancement affects of the lower profile tires that come with that conversion. You want to match up the final outer diameter of your new 20” tires to your factory sized ones as close as possible.

For example: 345 30 19 is 27.1” outer diameter but 345 30 20 is 28.1”, 1” too tall. 345 25 20 is 26.8”, .3” under but that is much closer and the number varies by brand.

Use this calculator to see what is best for your car, but confirm actual outer diameter with the tire manufacture’s website:

Thank you very much and the calculator is
very helpful. I really appreciate your help.
I should be able to find the correct size using the calculator and confirming with the manufacturer for actual size .
