Looks like Bernie already sold one of his Graphite/Silver. I figured the cheaper one would not last long.

My best advice is get what/the color you want and get a quality car. The experience will be so much better and well worth the extra money you pay.

I agree, and if you can't afford a decent one, wait until you can.

You may want to look at year 2000 steel gray.

I agree with the above. I can't tell the difference unless the graphite and steel color cars are next to each other in the sun.

I get great reactions to my car, particularly the color, at most gas station stops. I went to the Grand Canyon and felt like I was escorting a super model at each overlook parking area. The foreign tourists especially love the car. (Of course, you will get those reactions with most any color Viper.)

Someone please explain to me the logic behind why high demand colors are made in low production numbers?

Dumb logic. Terribly dumb.

You know, there's a reason that they're making a lot of 42" plasma TV's these days, not 13" plasma TV's. THAT'S WHAT PEOPLE WANT!

Same as with RED.

Sorry, the supply and demand theory holds water like Fred Flinstone's floorboard.

Well also it isnt like red is ALWAYS "most common" either. I haven't checked the registry lately but in 2000 the big color was steel gray. My 2000 GTS ACR is solid red and is 1 of 35 which makes it very "rare." No one will see it that way but that is the absolute truth. People break down rarity by year and options. So if that is the case, then RED should be most desirable that year. It's all BS and I could care less.

Plus if you don't care about collectibility then there is nothing nicer than taking a solid red GTS and stripping it with black stripes:2tu:

Color does not see to play that much of a roll on price. Unless you are red. No one wants those!:lmao:
QUOTE]

Here is the real low-down on color , Red is the most desired and that is why there are more red. And all real snakes have scales, well only the RED, Blue, Graphite, Green, have scales, I'm not sure on silver, but Yellow,White,Black do not! ;)
Check your Snakes Badge. :D

GViper, I'm sorry to inform you, but you just missed out on a low miles (17K) '02 with lots of appearance upgrades including HRE wheels in the color combo you're looking for. It was up in Nebraska and don't feel too bad, I got beat out by a guy that was willing to pay for it sight unseen just as I was making my travel arangements. It was a steal at $40K.

Just decide what you want and keep your eyes open. By the way, I ended up buying a beautiful Sapphire/Silver from a VCA member ... this board is a great place to go looking for your dream car.

Gviper, get with Bernie and get the car you want. Bernie knows Vipers and when you buy from him you know you are getting a no stories, researched and well maintained car. He only deals in the best cars.

I bought my car from him sight unseen and got exactly what I wanted, no surprises and no BS. I couldn't be happier. ;)

I didn't realize that Viper prices have gone up? Instead of only being worth $30,000 they're worth $60,000 for a Gen 2?

The only color I saw that made a significabnt price difference (+$3,000)was Blue/white.

There was no mention as to GTS or R/T (which have different prices).

Buy the car closest to what you want. Stock exhaust sounds like crap in Gen 2s and the massive Cats cause fires and burned skin while lowering mileage. Runcraps and even PS1 tires are dangerous when compared to the new PS2s. Gen 3 brake upgrade is worth ten times what the ABS will do for you. Earlier cars without ABS only need Tom's rear caliper upgrade to equal/outperform ABS cars. 14" front brake kit will outstop every Gen 1 and 2 brake system included lightweight slotted and drilled rotors.

Color? A paint job for any color you want is probably $5,000. Buy a Viper with Gen 3 brakes and paint it for mid $40s.

Unless you're a collector and have no plans to drive it ... stock needs to be improved. Not Dodge's fault that the Government forced regulations requiring garbage Catylitic Convertors.

I'd rather pay an extra $3,000 for a car with brake upgrades that stops within 5' of the best in the world instead of ten thou or more extra for any particular color.

I didn't have time to read all the posts on this thread, so apologies if a repost -

Was looking for a different car, and noticed this gray Viper GTS at Best of Show Automotive. Just 1605 miles - -

By the way, I wanted ONLY Steel Gray, no stripes, and got super lucky when the guy who had it wanted my 996tt Porsche. So, look until 'the' car you want shows up, and be prepared to pay what it takes. "Bargain" and "Exactly what I wanted" are rarely mentioned in the same sentence.

I really apprciate all your responses. I guess that I am truly looking for a mint GTS. It seems that most people believe that while Bernie's prices are high, he gets really nice quality cars.

Yes, Bernie's cars are TOP quality. How far are you from his showroom? It is worth the ride to go look at his cars. And if you are too far he is one of the "few" dealers I would trust buying a car site unseen from. :2tu: There are NOT many cars left in Graphite (wasn't many to begin with) that are perfect and have super low mileage.

Don't rule out an 01 in Sapphire. 01-02 are the best of gen 2 for sure. Low miles is not always the best indicator. They might have all been at a drag strip. Better to find a very highly maintained car then one that sat just deteriorating. GTS Bruce
