2nd Annual VCANJ Fall Wine Cruise

Please save the date of October 4, 2008 for the 2nd annual VCANJ Fall Wine Cruise and Tasting. We will meet at The Round Valley Reservoir Visitor Center about 10:00 and depart for a cruise in the rural, picturesque hills of Hunterdon County at 10:15. Our Cruise destination will be one of two Wineries in the Amwell Valley. We will then cruise to a nearby restaurant for a sit down lunch. This cruise, obviously, is open to all local VCA Clubs. Again, please save the date. Details will follow.

This was a "save the date" notification. The route will be detremined, but will be from Round Valley Reservoir in Lebanon, Hunterdon County, NJ, through mainly country roads and ending up about an hour and a half later at Unionville Vineyards, East Amwell Valley, Hunterdon County, NJ. I would plan to get at the Vineyard at 12:00 and depart for lunch at Jake's Restaurant in Flemington, NJ at about 1:30. Jake's is about twenty minutes away. There is access to all major highways (202,31,78,and I287) from Jake's. I have to get a PP cost for the Wine and Cheese tour and Jake's to get a PP cost from the attendees. Details will follow.

Re: 2nd Annual VCANJ Fall Wine Cruise Route and Venue Change

Same date, same time, same meeting place, different route. We will still meet at the Round Valley Recreation Visitor Center parking area which is on route 629. This is easilly accessed from either route 22 or 78. Here is a Mapquest link; Map of Lebanon, NJ by MapQuest .
We will then depart around 10:15 and cruise the back roads and some highways through rural north Hunterdon and Warren counties. We will arrive at Alba Vineyards located in the village of Finesville, Milford, NJ at approximately 12:00. : www.albavineyard.com .They will be hosting the Harvest Festival for the New Jersey Wine Growers association. There will be twenty five New Jersey vineyards represented there. There will also be a Cajon Blues Band, The VooDudes and another band, Cairo performing as well as crafters and many food vendors so we can purchase lunch there, individually. The admission (pay at the door) is $20.00 PP. If anyone would like a sit down lunch afterwards, please see me the day of and I will provide a list of local restaurants. WOW!! To date, we have twenty Vipers and we still have six days to go! Mr. City Snake, as Tom stated, the NY/Ct Club is always invited. This is why I posted it on the National Site. I mapped out a tour and was going to drive it today, but the Sport Cups said "no way". This is a beautiful route through Hunteron County (interstates, highways, and very rural, but smooth roads) that should take 1 hour and forty five minutes. I would have responded sooner, but trying to be just like Larry Dole, I was on vacation. Let's hope this weather passes and Saturday is a beautiful Fall day. Alba Vineyards has offered to provide a "Snake Pit".

We will meet at the Round Valley Recreation Area Visitor Section at 10:00.


This is accessible from I 78 exit 20B from the east or route 22 from the west.


When you enter off route 629, just follow the signs for South Lot #1.

I will be pulling over from time to time when the route permits and if I feel someone got stuck at a light.​
