3 Local Viper Wrecks ....

Scary stuff. I know three people who live close to me that have had accidents with their Vipers in the last 3 weeks or so.

A guy who bought his brand new Black with Stripes SRT 10 Coupe (in January) brought his car to a body shop for a scratch. The body shop guys took it for a "ride" and put 50k worth of damage on the car. Obviously the Viper owner wants a new car and I don't blame him...but he is waiting to see what the insurance people say. I was at the dealer when the guy bought the car and it was gorgeous.

The second guy we know has an SRT 10 vert and he was on the highway and hit a piece of wood....took the front bumper off and messed up radiator, bent the frame...ouch....

The third guy was actually at the dealership yesterday and was parked and a Ford pickup with a trailer hitch backed into the side of his 99 coupe. Did 12k worth of damage. I saw the car today. The passenger rocker panel bashed in and the rear passenger quarter panel cracked in multiple places....

I am freaked out now about leaving my car anywhere I can't see it....There were only 5 or 6 Vipers in our whole town to start with.....

To top things off a guy down the highway from us put his brand new Ford GT in a cane field...I haven't seen the car but I heard it was bad.....

Be alert, to EVERYTHING! Part of the allure of these cars is danger in MANY forms. Still your stories aren't the reassuring kind!

I don't understand how the frame was bent from hitting a piece of wood. Was it a tree? :confused:

The story was vague about what happened...I am sure he hit whatever it was at very high speed. The same guy just bought a new Ford GT...and I hear he really likes to drive fast. It was supposed to be like a 2x4 but who really knows......

Just last week, a gal in our club who has tracked her car at least 4 times, rolled her car coming off the freeway. She hit her head and does not remember if she missed a downshift or what, but all she remembers is coming off the freeway, and then the car veering really fast and getting rolled because of a drainage ditch, and then the car instantly engulfed in flames. A total loss to a brand new Copperhead SRT-10. She says she is amazed that she walked away, without a scratch. Just a little sore in places.

not everyday you see a snake upsidedown in the grass. if only he had done the 996 recall ;)

Let us know if the body shop guy gets a new one. At 50k in damage he could argue with insurance it's a total loss.

Was this in the bay area? Did she have a roll bar? The verts really could've had them integrated instead of the "sports bar". :rolleyes:

Glad she's doing ok.
