Three words - INSTANT ROCK STAR. :smirk:

Someone carfax - 1B3ER69E1VV301725 - please.

Fair price for this car??? 58k miles, majority claimed to be highway miles. One owner car owned by an older guy that lived in MD and made frequent trips to his girlfriend's house in PA. No dents / dings. A few very minor scuff marks can be seen in sun, other than that, car is immaculate in / out. Noticed minor oil leak. Few drops where car was parked. Believe typical for this year. Also, transmission whine sounds like supercharger. Also believe this is typical. Blue / white is so sweet. Owner has original sticker which indicates car was built for someone football player - Sonny Juergenson? Dude changed his mind though and never picked car up.

Please let me know your thoughts.

God bless you too 1tony1. You are also a good man. I've only been here a few days and I already feel like part of the family. Sniff...sniff... ;)

Regarding sound I hear, it is a high-pitched gear whining sound. Noticeable but not too annoying. I figured this is typical but I have not been around that many vipers. Wish it wuz a supercharger. Looks like you've blown yours. Something about that doesn't sound right but you know what I mean. (Stupid question ---> how is it? wORth 7k? Dude, for me, 450+ HP with 0-60 in @ 4 secs is just fine... Of course I would like to go 0-60 in @ 1 second but then I suspect I would need a good supply of diapers...

I would post a picture of the "I'm not worthy" dude bowing down but I am not that clever yet.

Thx Tony.

Tony, I'm obviously prejudiced and love the b/w. Also like the [******] wing. 58K miles are quite a few mi. I'd be concerned about the oil leak and the whine from the tranny. I know that replacing the tranny aint cheap so I'd have a viper tech closely examine the car. Price: I'm guessing $42k max, probably should be less due to the tranny noise and oil leak. Anything above, I'd keep looking. Good luck.

My apologies....I had looked forward to the event as well. It literally ruined my day once I passed the time where it was feasible. Had it been on Dunday, I easily would have bailed out of VA on Sat....but Chuck was hosed because Sunday was Mother's Day. I don't mind the rain....and I don't mind the 8 hour drive each way...but both, together, have this odd effect on me. Trust me when I say that I did not take the decision lightly. Sorry to hijack too. :)

My very first post and it's hijacked by supercharged vipers. LOL. :D

Dudes, I paid $35k for the above said viper. Deal??? I feel like it was, would like expert opinions. In the end it's only money and how can you put a price on your dreams, well... 35,000 I guess.., oh, you know what i mean.

PS: I will do my best to spare all of you the typical newbie questions like what exhaust - belanger, borla, corsa, etc, smooth tubes, air filters, brake pads, where the he!! is the tilt steering, what's the difference between 96 & 97 gts', what's the fastest, rt10 vs gts, (catching my breath...) best car wax, hiflow cats, no cats, stock cats, [******] cats, best shifter, best tires, how do i make my car insanely loud, battery tenders, winterizing, recalls, service bulletins, oil leaks, stereo upgrades, etc. etc. etc. (pheeeww...) Instead, I plan on going back to the first post and reading every post from there forward. :D

Price sounds good depending what it costs to get rid of the blower type whine. Oil leak is NBD.

Um.. before i ask newbie question #456, "how do i post pictures?" & since i'm the guy that never asks for directions and would rather get lost, let me see if I can figure it out for myself - (scratching my head... god help me.)

If this posts right, it should be a picture of her from behind (my favorite vantage point...)

Here she is from the front...

If the pics didn't post my excuse is i am a ******** newbie and you can make fun of me for not being able to post pics. Laugh, point, and have a good ol time. The stinken image button asks me for an http address. Guess I could set-up an angelfire page if that's required. Let's see what happens when i hit continue...

True Love :D When I become old, withered & gray and it's my time to meet the almighty, i want this to be my coffin, my chariot to the other side. Ohhh yes. BTW, previous owned had sheepskins custom made & they are excellent quality. They are coming out (took me almost 20 minutes to get the driver's side off!!!) and will be posting them 4 sale. Don't know what they're worth.

Flybryviper, thx for the tip. WOuld luv to go to event. WOuld never race her, perish the thought of putting my baby in harm's way. Besides, all you supercharged freaks would chew my arrsse and spit me out.

Dude you stole it , the oil leak is the porous oil pan that many 97 Vipers have and the whine could be your rear end , does it go away when coasting in neutral? If it is the rear end , don't worry about it , just get it serviced. spray........

dam ^^ , novi 2000, holy mother of all creatures large & small... 450hp doesn't seem that much any more. how do you post the gremlin for the dude bowing down. wait, don't tell me, i would be forced to use him way way too much.

regarding oil leak, there is about 2-3 drops left in my garage every time i park the beast. i have a dodge duster turbo (my clark kent secret identity car which i drive to work) w/ almost 150k miles on it that leaves a little puddle wherever it sleeps so the 2-3 drops from the viper (my true superman identity when i come home) seems like nothing. duster also leaves other miscellaneous fluids.

regarding what i believe to be the whining transmission, yes, when i put in neutral the whine magically disappears. i read some posts debating on whether this is her rearend or transmission. sounds like it's coming from transmission, sounds like the car is blown. you thinks its the gears, could be. read the 3.55 gear swap is worth much sotp fun. maybe sometime in future.

regarding pics, i still don't know why you guys can't see them in this post and i can... anyways, i will post to forum and then link from theres. i'll do it now and be right back.

i posted them in gallery... let me try & paste here... original pics were taken w/ olympus stylus 300 and are close to 2 mb each. i did my best to reduce resolution & file size down to the recommended 35 kb size. was difficult without sacrificing too much quality. better for dialup users though... thx for guidance vipermad et al.
