been away for the weekend with the club touring ,started the car up on the return leg home and airbag light was on the dash, started another 3 times to test and its still on, where do i start to track the problem down?

after a bit of searching the archives it sounds like the clockspring has broke

a strange noise came from the steering column while i was parking the car, then the warning light must of came on

is it a simple to fix or a job for the dealership?

Yes! But plug into it anyway to read the code to be sure.
