Any tips on a camera mount?

I'm looking to rig one up before the spring events start.

I mounted a bullet camera in the fascia so I could get a clean view of the road ahead. At first I mounted it inside between the seats, but it was difficult to see much of the action outside of the car. I routed the camera's wires back to the glove box and use a small, handheld video camera to record the action. The camera doesn't touch the fascia. It mounts directly to the fiberglass bumper.

Do you have a side mount too? Or better yet, a rear camera?

Is that camera focused at infinity( zoom capability)? Does it have a fisheye lens or does the image look normal?

Give Ted a call at Viper Innovations........I've used his camera mount through some pretty severe conditions at it is rock solid steady. It mounts easily to seat rails without any drilling or modifications of any kind.

I also bought that mount from Ted. So did another Viper buddy...

It works great, and is a snap to remove/install. My only gripe is that I wish I had a wider lens on my camcorder!

Is the camera pretty stable on the track with hard cornering, etc.? It looks like it would have a tendency to rock a little. Thanks,

It's not distorted at all, but it doesn't have a zoom capability.

Which way are you thinking it would rock... up and down, or left to right?

Left/right movement is definitely not an issue, although you have to REALLY tighten the screws that hold the camera on, as well as the screws that hold the pieces of the mount together. I used a pair of pliers after I found the camera in my lap. They may be thumbscrews, but I wasn't able to tighten them without pliers.

Up/Down movement wasn't bad for me, either. I push the seat back all the way, until the camera mount is wedged against the back of the car. Of course, my videocamera has a digital image stabilizer, too, which probably helps minimize any bouncing...
