I am going to upgrade to 18inch track only rims and tires and looking for the best tires for the road courses. The reason for this is to go to the stoptech bigbrake kit which requires 18 inch rims.

I am considering the following tires:

Hoosier R3S04 (Competition)
Hoosier A3S03 (Competition)
Toyo RA-1s
Kumho Ecsta V700 (Competition)

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Fastest tire - Hoosier. the A3RS03 "A" stands for autocross.
The R3S03 is the previous compound offered before the S04 came out this year. As to which one of those is faster, I am not sure. I have both and have run them, but right now I feel more comfortable on S03's, but that might be because I have more experience with them. Both are excellent track compounds.

The Kumho Ecsta is OK, but the best they have to offer is the Victoracer V700 & V710, and its a good tire, but there isnt much long-term data on the 710's since they are relatively new and there was a recall on them due to initial tread separation issues in SCCA. They may be the tire to get in the future since the lap times are there and they are cheaper than Hoosiers. Just wait for more input to whether or not the tire problems have been fixed.

I think the Toyo is a little less grippy, but I have heard they last the longest. I have no personal experience here, just what others that do have told me.

If you want to go fast, the hoosier is the ticket, If you are new & want a good track tire to learn on , the toyo or Michelin pilot sport cup will last forever.

Jay .... JT suggest to you use old balding Pilots.... so you do not take advantage of your friends .... something about spending more time in the Kitty litter.

Woodhouse is turning within one tenth of a second with the Toyos , compared to Hoosiers. I think the bar is changed and the two Tires are fairly equal, and I have two track records in my little race car ( on Toyos )over guys on Hoosiers. I like both, but for long lasting , I would go Toyo.

Vilven Tire , ( Bob Vilven ) handles the Toyos for all the World Challenge Drivers.
