Black lug nuts

I've been wondering about those as well. The thought of Aluminum sounds great from a weight savings perspective, but also sounds like a failure potential as well.

Do not use aluminum lug nuts. I have never used them and never would. The manufacturers or aluminum lug nuts even say to tighten them by hand and not with impact wrench. Too much risk for a few ounces of weight savings. The shear strength even for aircraft grade 7075-T6 temper is only around 48KSI. Get some steel nuts coated (except the threads) if you want black.

Do a search for"Gorilla lug nuts"they have all kinds sizes and
finishes of nuts both open and closed cap.

take some to the local powder coater just thread them onto a bolt and get some spray paint. either way the thickness of the paint/powder coat may change the size enuf that a std. size socket wont fit any more. Maybe JonB or one of the wheel manufacturers have the answer?

I can finally give someone advice to something about the Viper.

Anyhow, I bought the red cap McGards Spline Drives. If you want black...then look here:

The part number is 65530BK. This is for Black Chrome. Also since it is a Spline Drive, you will need the tool...part# 65300. Being that it is a spline drive, it is sort of like a lock since you will need the tool to remove them. This is for a 1/2 X 20 lug nut.

From what I have gathered...these are supposed to be of better quality versus say Gorilla locks.
