Car\'s smoking

I drove my car into my garage after a 30 minute drive home. All of a sudden I shut her off and the smoke starts pouring out of the hood, on the passengers side. I pop the hood and there appears to be antifreeze all over. There appears to be some type of switch with hoses on either side. Forgive the dumb questions, but today I had to travel to Chicago for work so I left my car without fully knowing what the cause is, and I am looking for some piece of mind. Please tell me that it is just the overflow from the holding tank and it's nothing to worry about?

How bout it???

Thanks

Bob

The overflow is in the facia, not under the hood. Take a picture of what you think is leaking and post it on here.

Is it smoke or steam? Maybe antifreeze is leaking on somehting hot making it steam? leaky hose?

i agree.. if more in the center of the car could also be your thermostat gasket

if more on the side probably a hose..more likely steam than smoke, especially since you have antifreeze leaking

find exactly where its leaking from

Bob observed: "There appears to be some type of switch with hoses on either side"

Those are heater hoses and that is the water valve. Have seen PLENTY of those hoses slip off of that valve (usually the hose on the "engine side"...so, be sure that they are FULLY on...noting that MANY folks get rid of the small clamps that are stock, and change them for small hose clamps (the kind with a screw) while others prefer the older style constant tension "rabbit ear" clamp that used to be seen on those hoses in the prior years.

ALSO, I have seen at least TWO 2001's that had the leak in the water valve itself...requiring replacement.

You have e-mail.

The best is to post a picture or to visit a dealer.
I have seen a problem where the return hose to the pump touched the headers. That might cause this type of major sudden leak.
