I see now why Chrysler is in the shape it is in. I have only owned Dodge HD trucks and Vipers which were made from Chrysler. The trucks have been great, quality of Vipers was decent to Great (my 08 is really a good quality car, my 06 was disappointing), but I have to say the only other late model car I have driven from Chrysler is a Sebring Conv on vac this week. What a piece if junk (and I'm being nice). We have rented a Mustang on one island and Sebring conv on another with about the same miles, and there is no comparison in the cars. If Chrysler builds the rest of their products like this, then I can see why they are in court now.

It is a shame - a lot of their 'bread and butter' cars aren't too good. That said, I'm still really impressed with their entire truck line, the Jeep line, and most of the Dodge line. I'm not a minivan guy, but I rented a Town and Country during a trip to Vegas not long ago and it was a top notch vehicle.

Current fleet includes my 09 Dodge Journey R/T, My son's 08 Jeep Liberty and of course, 08 Viper. All are impressively well made, great value and absolutely reliable.

Dad owns 300C SRT8 and a Crossfire SRT6 .... also, VERY impressed and ZERO issues.

I agree with you guys about our cars. I am on my 5th viper
94 decent quality
96 very good
02 very good
06 not too good
08 very good

All of my HD trucks have been excellent, in traded my 07 off on an 08 superduty and regretted it. But this sebring reminded me of some of the junk they made in the 70s. And that car is one of their newer models. I could not get the trunk closed and the person at the car rental grabs the back of the trunk, yanks the lid towards her (basically pulling the latch to where it would meet), and says "You have to give these sebrings a yank to close them". The metal was that thin on the thing.

Sorry to hear that. I have an 07 Sebring 3.5L V6 with all the options and it's a great car. I've had it a little over 1.5 years and not a bit of problem out of it. I call it my playground on wheels because of the MyGIG, hands-free voice commands and all the gadgets I can play with as I drive along.

I've heard some negative comments about the base models but rarely anything bad about the high end version.

I agree the Sebring is junk. but please don't do as the magazine reviewers do and base the entire line up on on or two mistakes. Name any manufacturer who does not have what most people consider a junk car. My 300C is a great car. I can't complain about my '99 Ram 1500 with 167K miles, and my '99 GTS is....well... perfect!
I test drove a new Sebring before buying the 300C and could not get out of it fast enough. But, that did not cause me to say Chrysler only has junk cars.

I did rent the sebring and I agree its junk. However I have rented the Charger and I like it and I own a SRT Viper and love it. I don't let the low end junk cars steer my decision for the entire line.

I bought my 06 with 1800 miles on it. The history showed good on it when I bought it. The thing rattled like an old buckboard, unlike any of the others I had. It really didnt track down the road very well either, it was just all over the place. I had it in the shop to fix the hood alignment, rear hatch release, sub speaker was blown, then replaced, and another blown, power steering pump, all with less than 2500 miles. Then I drove a brand new '08 in Jan when they were fire saleing them, and the thing was like a totally different car. I love the '08, but was not impressed at all with my '06. I may have just got a bad one, it happens. I'm also not saying that all Chrysler vehicles are as bad as the one I experienced, I'm just saying that this sebring was one of the worst vehicles I have driven in the last 20 years, and it is a fairly new release of the car.
