A question on air filters. Do I need to buy the K&N cleaning kit for the K&N filters or is this a waste of money? Is the spray on oil of any value? Any reason not to just wash these with a mild dishwashing soap and water? Thanks.

I use dish soap. Wash them every 5k mi. and dry as best possible. You do need to use some type of oil. The K&N spray works good. If you don't have any or can't wait, use motor oil. That's what we use on our dirt bikes with foam filters.
Do not over soak them. A light film will catch the dirt.
Good Luck,
Dan

I use 409 to clean the filters and oil with K&N oil. Buy a second set and alternate them. That way you'll always have a clean set ready to go.
