i just ran into a guy i know who has a mercedes SL 600 bi-turbo convertable. i know at some point i am going to be on the open road and we are going to open them up a bit. i have a gen 1 with headers, smooth tubes, hi flow cats, and a cat back exhaust. he has i think about 510 hp and around 600 tq. i am thinking my only saving grace is that he is about 600 lbs heavier. so what are my chances?:dunno:

They might be rated at 500HP, but they make much more, they typically dyno 475+ HP and 550+ torque to the wheels.....

the V12 Twin Turbo pulls very hard despite the car's weight....

good luck!

You mean the guy has An SL-65 .If you does thats a mid-high 11 second car in another words he will eat you alive with a Gen 1 .A Gen -2 OR 3 WOULD BE CLOSE THOUGH.

Somebody can correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think you can use an SCT on your car. It is the older computer setup and is not OBD II compliant. You would need to get a Vec 2 from Roe Racing Viper Performance Parts Get some 1.7's along with 65MM and a nice set of flowing heads :2tu:

96' RT/10s are OBD II compliant. The PCM is a 1 year animal. Gen 1 engine, OBD II compliant.

OK then i never realized the stock 600 was twin turboed also.

Yep. The 600 is a TT as well. And BTW, this car will eat a Gen. 2 Viper alive. Ive owned both, and it won't even be close.
