Have you considered having your wheels re-cleared? That is likely the least expensive alternative. You could even have the wheels polished more prior to the clear, or just have them polished and NOT clear them (although you would have to do a little more work to keep the wheels looking sharp without the clearcoat).
Just a thought....

If you go for the BBS, I recall Paul L saying for once they're
actually cheaper in the UK than the USA. We picked up nice
tyre prices at Donnington British GT, direct from Michelin motorsport I'll sent you the details. Definately the polished for me, cant recommend not to clear coat as they will tarnish if left wet over night, unless you like cleaning them back up.
I'll send a picture of matt finish, a guy actually got rid of the
'chrome' look, perhaps he encountered your problem.
