Detroit Vipers Hockey Team

Back in 1994, Detroit picked up an IHL hockey team from Salt Lake City. Due to a sponsorship deal with Chrysler, the team became the "Vipers" named after...you guessed it, the Dodge Viper! The Vipers were very popular and quite successful. They won their division a number of times, and also won the IHL championship in 1996-97. The Vipers didn't survive the collapse of the IHL though, and went out of business in 2001.
Just some interesting information I thought I'd pass along.
Now, how many people can claim they had a professional sports team named after their car?

Interesting, I never knew that's what they were really named after.
I do remember them beating the Indianapolis Ice in the IHL playoffs. D'oh!
