I am going to do gears and would love to be able to get a whole new diff via core system or otherwise so I can do the swap in one day and be over with it so I am looking at my options (Unitrax does not really have a core system). I notice that some diff housing have plugged-up fittings for use with future diff cooling set-ups (Archer). I figure this has no benefit whatsoever for a street car - true? Is cooling the differential something even you track day guys worry about?

Benefit would be minimal, unless you are running around the streets at 80-100% of the rpm limit all the time.

If you're thinking of 3.73 gears it would be a good idea, even on the street.

I just did a complete Diff swap last weekend. I purchased the Mopar Performance 3:55 Diff complete. Part # is P5007401 this is a complete factory set-up Diff, the only item you would swap over from your car is the cover/support. This set-up comes pre-drilled for the Mopar performance cooler if you choose to use it, as well as a drain plug. I purchased mine from Woodhouse for $1090, excellent price and they even threw in new bolts and caps for the U-joints. I haven't driven it yet due to rain in SoCal but am seriously considering putting the cooler on it. My car has 8900 miles on it and I was shocked at how dirty and nasty the factory housing was. I understand that the position of the Viper Diff does not allow suffcient cooling to the Diff. This condition will only get worse with a higher numerical gear ratio.

Why get a core when you can buy new and keep your old Diff if you want to change back in the future. I got the speedo box from DC Performance at an excellent price.

Camfab that is something I will look into. At my own dealer and at Woodhouse. Hopefully 3.73s would not be more. Where does the cooler element go on the Mopar cooling system? I do live in the ultimate hot weather testing location after all, so more cooling is always better than less cooling.

I asked about the 3:73 ratio and was told it was the same price. I talked to Nancy at Woodhouse, double check, but I think the part # is P5007402.

The pump mounts on the skid plate just below the tranny, I've yet to price it out.

I just took the diff cooler off my car. With SC, I've gone back to stock gears and just didn't feel the need anymore...

If anyone would like it (cooler, all lines, pump and filter), e-mail me and make reasonable offer!

If you wanted to run the Silverstate Classic road race - a cooler would be a good idea, but for most street driving, chances are unlikely you could keep the power down long enough to overheat the diff.... you are more likely to run out of road first... unless you have some open ground and know where all the cops are.... grin

Run a synthetic oil - it'll take more heat as a precaution

Just a note, the Viper , at least creampuffs use synthetic oil to begin with. I tend to overkill all fluid changes, not just my Viper.
