door hinge piece

Hello all, Yesterday a piece of metal fell out of my drivers side door onto the side sill.It can be viewed in my profile. Anybody know what it is? maybe from the hinge? Also I have a stock red 97rt/10. I like the stock rims but I want to lower it. How far should I go and what springs? Thanks all.

More then likely that was the "hill holder" on your hinge. Does your door stay open by it self now? The reason they break off is lack of lubricant! Once a year take the panels off in front of your doors and smear some grease on that hill holder!
