Can anyone tell me a good source to purchase the scan tool needed to read out the (PCM) powertrain control module trouble codes? The service manual talks about the DRBIII Scan Tool. Is there another scan tool anyone has used and can recommend? What is the least expensive route to go to have a look at the trouble codes and reset them? Thanks, Mark --- 2000 RT/10---

Try AutoZone...small ODBII unit around $100.00....can read codes, and reset.

Sean Roe has a more sophisticated package for around $500.00 that hooks to your laptop.

BRBIII is a big deal...last time that I asked was quoted $7000.00...but, one would still need the software updates that are supposedly NOT available if you are not a dealer.

You should be able to purchase one at your local dealer for about $3500. They are available to anybody with the will to purchase one. The updates from the Dealers MDS system are not available to you (unless you and your Viper tech are good buddies) but the new one you purchase will have the most current software on it.
