Dynamat is said to be able to lower the heat and sound levels significantly. Others simply say it won't work at all. A few of you have mentioned at one time or another that Dynamat can reduce the sound by 15-20db. That is very significant indeed. In addition the amount of heat reduction is said to be high with Dynamat as well. My question is are there any other products besides Dynamat?

There is better products for heat imo. Cer-wool comes to mind. As far as sound goes Dynamat works really well but remember this stuff is heavy, and it adds up fast.

Do a search of the RT/10 and GTS Discussions forum. There's a lot of old posts about that. I went through some pretty extensive research and experimenting. The two best things you can do is 1: use wave washer or the like to completely isolate every exhaust hanger from your frame, 2: buy a Corsa exhaust with the sound cancellation technology. It really works for eliminating cabin drone. The problem with dampening barriers like Dynamat is that you have to cover 98%+ of the surfaces for it to be effective, otherwise it's just a waste.

There is a product called B-quiet which is less expensive than Dynamat.I did my whole trunk area and it helped but I think you would find far less than 20 DB reduction, more like 3-5 DB.

Here is a link to what I did to my 2001 GTS.

BTW, I subsequently installed a corsa system and that by far made more difference then installing the sound deadening material. The Corsa system is great if you don't like a booming Viper drone.

Yes, the B-quiet. Also called brown bread. A roll costs around $169 and will go a long way. This did the entire inner roof, trunk "tub",under carpet, behind seats, tranny tunnel, and doors. Weight 18lbs. Sorry I can't tell you the difference, as I did this prior to ever driving the car. It's not 20db - but it is easy to speak with windows down, corsa, random techs.

i installed the Corsa and Randoms when I took delivery of car so I don't know what the factory sound level really is like. I just wanted to quiet her down some more. I guess I'll skip on JonB's Dynamat $500 package and do the Bquiet 169 deal....
will post when Ive installed it. thanks brothers
