Not sure if it was a M3 or an M5 but last night (closed course) I was driving home with my wife and spotted a new BMW M3/5 (looked pretty big to be an M3). Passed him at about 65-70 in 4 gear, he goes around a car in the center lane (I was in far left lane and he was in far right lane) to pull up beside me. After about 10 seconds he hits it and so do I (mind you I am still in 4th probably turning about 3k rpm). I jumped out about a foot and we remain even until about 100 when I start to pull away. We finished about 130 and I had about 3-4 cars on him. I never shifted, stayed in 4th the entire time. It was night time so plenty of cool air for the viper to **** in. Also at about 100 the road was a uphill (nothing major but slight incline). Car is a stock (for about another week) GTS with only a corsa exhaust.

We did some short pulls from 2nd and I got him everytime time but the M3/5 needs to be high in the rpms to stick with the viper.

I took at detour on a closed course were I so how ran into this M3/5. Afterwards I got off the detour and finished my trip home. Pretty nice detour I must say. :)

I thought m3/5 (m3-400 hp and m5 500 hp) would be able to pull a GTS in 4th gear at such low speeds 70 mph/rpms 3k? I know they are about 500 lbs heavier but still they are fast cars. I did race an 05' m5 (closed course as well, lol) and I pulled him like he was walking downwards.

I guess the viper just has that much power in 4th and it does seems to run alot stronger with its getting cold air (of course but more so then other sports cars I have driven).

But again from second gear (when we did some short pulls) the M3/5 was doing better in the shorter rolls.

I will say that the M could corner very well.

" I was driving home (closed course)" thought you guys would see the humor in that.
