Is the puff of smoke white, blue, or gray/black? Is it only a few puffs, or does it continue to puff during idle until the car has time to heat up?

leaking valve stem seals fit what you describe. while sitting overnight some oil seeps into the combustion chamber and smokes while it burns off.

The leak is so slow that it does not smoke all the time or even when it's turned off for a short while. Just when it has been off long enough for some accumulation.

Sometimes a seal or two is even missing...........

All good suggestions....

Blueish smoke is oil.
White is antifreeze.
Gray/black is excess fuel.

Good Luck

P.S. - Check you oil level when the car is cold. Make sure it is not over filled.
