I would also be interested in this option. I was toying with the idea of picking up my car at the factory, driving it around the corner and then loading it onto a private carrier like Reliable to deliver to my dealer.
It took several weeks (close to 3 months as I recall) from the time my 2006 Viper was made at the plant to the time it arrived at the dealer. The rationale was that each transport had to be filled with 4 cars going to the same region and that it took a while for 3 other cars to be sent to my part of the country (Pacific NW).
I hope they expedite this process for delivery of the 2008s.
I have picked up all three of mine at CAAP(it's only 20 minutes from my house), it is a great experience. Call Viper HQ for details. My guess is that this will speed up delivery time, as they do wait for full transporters before shipping to a particular area.
