Hey Guys

Who's replaced the subwoofer in their car with a direct replacement 6.5 inch sub. What brand did you guys replace it with.... and was it a easy fit..

Also what does it take to hook up a new deck using the existing wires....

Thanks

JL Audio model "6W0", and it even seems to sound better. I replaced mine about 6 weeks ago. Only place I could find the speaker for less than $100 (before tax/shipping) was online at www.woofersetc.com - the direct URL would be: http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=product.display&Product_ID=2073

I originally order one from "etronics.com", then they said they were out of stock and tried to sell an "equivalent", which wasn't even a subwoofer.

Only problem with this woofersetc.com is they don't tell you which type of the 6W0 you are getting - the 4 ohm (6W0-4) or 8 ohm (6W0-8) impedance model. The stock Gen II RT center speaker is a 6 ohm, btw. The one I ended up with is a 4 ohm, and it seems to be fine. Oh, when you get it, you have to remove the two cool rubber things attached to it (they slip right off; one on the front rim, the other around the magnet) or the speaker won't fit into the mounting location, and I drilled new holes to mount it, as the stock holes made the "JL" logo off by 45 degrees (no big deal, but it looks silly/cockeyed if you don't).

You're right, its a very close fit - thats why you have to remove the cool rubber thing that comes on the magnet, or you can't get the speaker in. But, it did fit, and, although I thought the upper edge of the magnet was touching the back wall, yet I've heard no buzzing or anything similar to indicate it actually is touching.
