gen1 cat bypass pipe specs.

mrbbo here, looking for the pipe size specs inlet ,outlet and legnth . on making bypasss pipes for the cats on my my 94 rt. do i need to weld a **** in them for the oxygen sensor ? any and all help would be great , thanks to all

Stock cats are 2.5" in, 2.5" out. Length I'm not sure about. Front oxygen sensors bungholes are before the cats, so need to worry about them.

Gutting is Stupid. All that work and effort to add restriction to your system.(yes an expansion followed by a contraction in a pipe does create loss, a striaght pipe will flow better than a gutted cat)
just ask Borda–Carnot...

Cut a pipe to fit and stick it in. It dont get simpler then that.
or better yet, replace with a straight-thru type muffler

on a gen 1, (side exhaust) won't a straight pipe cost in low end torque

and a gutted cat may not flow as much as straight pipe, (per Borda–Carnot), but it certainly does not add restriction to the stock system.

a straight-thru muffler is a good idea, but how does it differ in basic design than a gutted cat (still has expansion though w/ stuffing)
