Hey FL people I met, I ran into some bad luck. I moved to Sarasota and I literly walked into my new place and had my last box. I got a phone call from my corporate office and they told me they were closing down the FL market. I was so mad! I had to tell 9 A/E's they didn't have jobs. I don't have any work here for me and I have nothing lined up..so I'm off to seek my fortune else where. It really *****, I was liking FL. What gets me is my company knew I was moving and didn't tell me until the last minute AFTER I moved..what a bunch of butts! Well, off I go! Thanks for being nice to the people I met!

Don't go leaving FL AB. The job market here is a good, if not better, than anywhere else in the country. Combined with low cost of living, women, NO STATE INCOME TAX, women, perfect winters, women, year 'round racing, women, and it's a good place to live.

The only down side is the oppressive humidity and the women.

Adam -
For every bad thing that occurs, something good evolves. You'll find the good from your unfortunate experience very soon; A better job, more money and of course, fame and fortune! Look what happened with the initial problem you had with your snake -- then the good evolved.

Good luck with your new adventure, stay healthy, and keep in touch with us.

Doug and Chuck,
Thanks! You guys are awesome. I will do everything to stay in FL, but things look grim. I'm a sales manager for telecommunications and I'm don't know if people like me come a dime a dozen, but we will see. Doug..I promise you, I will be getting a Viper supercharged by you, so I will be keeping in touch. I would still like to get that set of tires if you still have them..if not..no biggie. Well, hopefully something will turn up in a job..but keep your ears peeled for me. Chuck good luck to you!

Interesting indeed. I have been in sales management in the telecommunications field for several years (17). Definitely not a dime a dozen, depending on your field of expertise. The whole industry is very diverse and always expanding. You might try to leverage your experience into related fields. If your telecom includes some data background, look into some Internet positions. Not necessarily the dot.com business per se, but those that make the Internet run. Even though the dot.coms have suffered of late, you will notice that the Internet wasn't turned off.

Indeed, I just lost one of my sales managers in Chicago after she was recruited by an e-commerce company that offered her a $15K raise on base and another $30K in target comp. A quick search on monster.com shows a ton of telecom related jobs. Throw in companies like broadband suppliers, wireless ethernet expansions, etc., and you have more stuff to choose from than you ever have before.

Sorry to hear of your predicament, but as Doug pointed out - it will turn out to be a blessing. I wish I could say my company is hiring, but we are doing a different kind of expansion right now. Good luck!

Chris

PS. And to keep this topical, I would point out that three of our local Viper Club members are in telecom. Not bad!

Ab, maybe I can help. I own an executive search and recruiting firm. We are heavy in Telecom and IT. Particularly in the sales arena, feel free to call me at 410.712.0770 and I would be happy to try and help. Remember change can be good!

Best of luck, and I agree completely with Doug, "For every bad thing that occurs, something good evolves". We'll miss you here in FL, but keep in touch with the board where ever you end up. Good Luck!

Good luck and best wishes on your job search!

It very well could be a blessing in disguise in the long run.

I ran a tire store for 9 years (I was comfortable there), I got into an argument with the owner and he fired me. It was the best thing that he ever could have done for me. It made me find a better job, and since then my salary has been going up. It's far more now than it could ever have been if I had stayed there.

Just try to keep a positive attitude!
