I too have found that the tolerances varied a great deal on the Vipers. I am currently on my 3rd, and all I can figure is that the "hand-madeness" (is that a word?) is why they are not perfect. Heck, my 2000 Maxima SE has much, much better fit and finish.

OUCH! Geez Bill, talk about a smack-down! But you know what? I love the Viper for what it is. My comment certainly was not an insult to Vipers or CAAP personel. It is the "character" of a hand built car that I was talking about, and how certain tolerences just can't be as tight due to the way they are built, versus the way "robots" build cars. I was at CAAP, the folks there were great, and in my opinion, they build the best performance car there is!

The gap at the quarter panel/roof panel interface can be adjusted slightly. Pop the rear hatch and reach up underneath, about 2-3" outboard of the seam, feel for two or three hex fasteners (I think they are 10mm) and loosen them up. Lay a strip of masking or electrical tape down each side of the seam, then push the inner edges down to protect the paint. Use a plastic trim stick to wedge it open, adjust the gap, then retighten the bolts and remove the tape.
