Is a SA 2000 rated helmet still good for 2011? How many years are the SA ratings good for?

Depends on the organization. A lot of clubs will still approve SA 2000. Check with who you're running with to confirm.

Depends on what you plan to do with it! Every organization has there own rules or guidelines.

If I have my story right. Racing is current generation +1 year grace period. Autocross can be 2+ generations. Everything else can vary widely. I have gone to some events where they didn't even check.

in the northeast, SA 2000 will no longer be accepted for HPDE events for PDA/NASA or SCDA. for Trackmasters, probably still OK. you will need SA 2005 or better. most car clubs will let you rent a community helmet if needed
