Make sure the floor mat is not blocking full travel of the clutch pedal.

I had my contoller module go bad on my alarm system. Had to tow car in for service. But I have not heard of this happening to anyone else here.

seems like the same problem i had last week and marc helped me out. unplug the red cable over the computer. the nut should have a red plastic cover over it. take it off, unsrew, disconnect and try it again.

Nothing like that over my computer, one wireing harness with about 20-25 wires in it going into another computer or something like it. This is on the pass side right not the disconect on the driver side? PS do I have to disconect at the battery or at the inside hood disconect? I have been using the one under the hood

Driverside by the water bottle. computer on pass side on mine. Done that five times, but I think some power remains as the stereo system doesn't loose stations or memory

Sounds like a Gen I. I recall a procedure to ground the green wire coming from the security module (under the dash on the drivers side). Check the archives for alarm and you should be able to locate it.

did you disconnect the battery and clean the terminals? if you ahve memory on stations there is still power coming from somewhere unless there is a back up battery for the memory attached to the radio..

I've got a service manual but that says that procedure is for resetting the remote. The remote (FOB) does not seem to effect the car in any way. But it can't hurt to try HUH?

Mine did that on two occasions. Both times, it magically started working again, once after 30 mins, once after 36 hrs. :(

Make sure your doors are 100% shut for one, and trunk, or that will trigger the fuel shutoff. Let us know what works for you.

If it is a Gen I there are no hood or trunk switches. I was promoting resetting the fobs in case they are the reason the alarm cannot be reset. Happened to me several years ago.

Also, check the fob batteries - they should be getting quite old by now.

Replaced the batteries first thing, No help Maybe I need to try the reset thing Huh? again it can't hurt a toy that doesn't run. Especially when there is no one around that can put it in a shop and disable the whole damn thing. PS do I need to take the console apart to get to the modual?

Contact the NC Chapter and ask what to do. They will help. Please don't tear the car apart. It will only complicate what could be an easy fix.

Re: HELP Maybe I didn\'t say this loud enuff

LOL(9screws) - The alarm system has two major components. Could be either one. The fact that your car battery is in the trunk makes me think the module has gone bad, older car. Good news is that it is the same as in the Dodge Caravan, so parts are reasonable.

I was told that the Mobil Speedpass on my Key Chain caused an electical interference and shorted out my alarm system.

What year is it?

"car turns over tries to start but shuts down"

You mean when you are trying to start it it just stops turning over?

There is a fuel pump fuse in the trunk near the amp. Make sure it's good and properly plugged in.

Next I would suspect the cam sensor.

I'm just guessing. I would have taken it to Macedo long ago.

No. The car starts but won't continue because the alarm shut off is working properly. Figures..LOL Alarm is armed and shutting everything down. Can't get alarm reset. Thanks for the try, I appreciate all the help I'm getting even if it does not fix the problem. JJ :usa:

LOL. I found your other thread. I had a similar problem with my 97 GTS. I had an extra key FOB, used it and it fixed the problem. Do you have a second key FOB?

Re: HELP Maybe I didn\'t say this loud enuff

The alarm module is under the steering wheel. All you need to remove is the knee blocker panel. Locate the Green wire and ground it while pressing the key fob buttons (see manual for more explicit instructions). All it appears that you need to do is synch the fobs.
