Help!! Where do I find a windshield for a \'99 GTS????

The local dealer qouted me a price of $700 plus tax for just the windshield glass itself, plus any installation. Does this seem right? Anywhere else I can get one?

Call Safelite. I believe they charge about $350.

schedule the appointment using their website, they can get it, they had one for my '94 the next day (less than 24 hours later) and installed it in my garage.

$302+tax Mopar Factory glass installed at my place of work. Local glass company (Aaron's Auto Glass) that a friend recommended. I also got the low-down on the actual price paid for this glass by installers - approx. $248. Possibly +/- $30 bucks depending on several factors. Don't let them B.S. you. They all pay around the same price for the Mopar glass. Part #1294.

BTW #1 - Safelite prices vary depending on zip code. In Pittsburgh, it was $554.67 + tax. You can negociate with them. I didn't bother since I got such a low quote from the local glass installer and new they would come down, but probably not that much.

BTW #2 - Other prices for national dealers (all installed at your place):

Diamond - $400 Tax included (Mopar Glass)
Guardian - $365 + Tax (Mopar Glass)
Glass Doctor - $371 Tax included (PPG Glass)

Is there really a difference b/t Mopar glass and aftermarket (such as PPG) glass?

Mopar doesn't make glass they buy it from others and they buy alot of glass from PPG, who makes the windshield.

isnt the radio antenna in the glass? are they in the non-mopar glass?

Safelite did mine and it had a Mopar part # on the glass. Antenna included.

Well, I just talked to Safelite, and they can't locate a windshield. They have to "order from the dealer". I called PPG, and they have none in inventory anywhere in the country.

Diamond had one though, quoted $400.83 installed. We'll see Monday for sure.

THEY JUST CALLED BACK; SAME STORY. PPG vendor no-bid as well. Apparently, the windshields have made their run.

safelite got me a windshield from a dealer. price was LESS than their glass! 350 for the mopar, 380 for their piece.

go figure!

glassnet looks good, but I am afraid it would wind up like the rest.

1. Internet quote followed by a congratulatory e-mail confirmation on the great job I did and all the money I saved.
2. Next, a phone call from a rep the next day saying they cannot find it, call a dealer.

Right now, I am waiting on a call Monday from Diamond who is doing a search through their PA office.

Thos eof you who have had success, when did you have it? Last week, or maybe a couple years ago?

Just got one for my car about three weeks ago, it was from "Auto Glass Specialists". Their web site is: www.littleredtruck.com, but it seems to be broken right now?

Have not seen it yet, they told me it was PPG, it would be nice if it had the Mopar numbers on it . I had to pay $100 extra for shipping as the glass was shipped from CA to MI. Total installed ended up being $498 after taxes.
