An answer to those who are having a problem with the new Justin Bell GT Diving School.

I sold my interest to Justin and his new group as of Oct.31,2000 on the understanding that they take full liability for any students that had signed up for the Viper School since they intended to switch to Corvettes. Justin and his new partner assumed this liability fully knowing that there may be some students who only wanted to drive Vipers at the school.
Eric Burch was to contact all students who were on the open list that had put down a deposit for the Viper School and let them know of the impending change to Corvettes. There were schools in November, December and January scheduled with Vipers that you could have attended had Eric or Justin contacted you.

I suggest any of you contact Justin at the school office himself. Talk only with Justin since he is the principle owner of the school and is quite aware of his obligations to prepaid students who have not gone thru the school as of yet.

I have encouraged Viper owners to take driving schools for years. The primary reason is to help avoid accident. A secondary reason is to maximize the Viper driving experience. I have suggested Skip Barber because I have taken many programs and everyone of them well worth the investment. Skip Barber offers VCA members a 25% discount on their 1&2 day performance driving school. I suggest the 2 day school as a starting point(followed by a few car control clinics, 3 day racing school, and lapping days). A 10% discount is given on all other programs. Our Region schedules a Skip Barber school for our VCA members. It is tailored to Viper owners. I encourage each region (if you have the membership) to schedule schools for your group. Reminder it is their car! If you feel the need for speed in your car do open track events, Viper Days is a good choice and offers a great social atmosphere as well as lots of support from Vendors and attendees, (tires, wheels, brake service, borrow a jack, buy a tranny from Archer). Open track events are great fun but have risk, it is your car and most tracks have walls or obstacles.

My understanding was that GM (Generic Motors) GAVE the school 20 Corvettes. The Vipers were being paid for by the school.

If true, it's an easy business decision to make. Can't blame them.

I approached Dodge for Vipers for the Viperschool and was told that the arrangements that they have with Skip Barber were exclusive. I purchased all the Vipers for the school at a cost of hundreds of thousands of dollars as well as purchasing our ACR Neon's. Yes it was expensive. When Oreca and Justin could not work a deal and he signed with GM to drive Corvettes last year, we negoitiated a marketing deal with GM for 5 ZO6's, 5 C-5's and 10 Camaro's. I have since sold the Vipers and are no longer associated with the school as I sold my majority interest out to Justin. I highly agree with Fred Kinder, all Viper owners should take a driving school and if Skip Barber is the only school with Vipers, book a school. I can tell you that the three day Viper School was great and very comprehensive. I cannot tell you much about Justin's new operation for I am no longer associated with it. Hopefully it is as good as when we had Vipers.
