Hello!! I’m a dodge viper fan since I was 10 years old. I have been a reader for a long, long time. I never really cared to post because I don’t have own one yet (currently in the process!!).
To tell u a small story why I loved the viper (I even remember the day I fell I love with it): I was 10 years old my mom took me to work (it was take your son to work day). We were getting off her car when this RED!! Drop dead gorgeous 94 RT10 pull next to me. It was growling like a beast that’s when I said to my self “I have to know the name of this car”.
The guy comes out (he’s build just like the car!!) I asked him “Sir, love your car but I must know the name of it”. He says, “O it’s just a Dodge Viper”. My mouth was like the cartoon characters on the floor.
Ever since that day I could never stop thinking about it.
Since I saw the picture of the GTS-R Concept back in 00 (I think). I told my self to hold off on the GTS and wait to see when if the GTS-R will be release.
A lot of the awesome Concept cars are never put in production stages.
The big question for me on the past few years was this; can this awesome car really be a true production stage model?? I waited for the long anticipated VOI8 for the details of the new Coupe… but from the looks if it I think I’m goanna buy a GTS.
I think its time for me to say something like everyone else in here are saying about.
(No offense to DC!!! don’t want to get flamed or banned from the site for disrespecting the viper, I love it just as much u do).
What or who made the decision of scraping out the GTS-R and the Comp Coupe? What were they thinking?!?!?!? “Why don’t we make the viper redefine make it look more like a vette”, “Good Idea bubba!!”
Why cant the GTS-R be feasible? It was done with the early models of the RT/10. If I remember right Dodge back in the day they were known for there minivans in the 80s and early 90s. DC was loosing profits from GM and Ford and they were about to go out of business and they decided to take on a different approach… they had to create something wild something people wanted to buy and something that will dramatically boost there sales and put them on the map once again. This car was DC last attempt to bring them back… they had to mustered as much money and time left to design and create this machine. A cars looks is literally untouched for 13 years (first model concept that I know of was in 1989) till 2002, till this day the G1s and G2s still look very similar of the 1st viper that was built back in the 80s.
I think I smell a law suit between Chevrolet and Dodge. “Your honor you can clearly see that they copy our newly release C6”.
DC is making the Viper look more like a common car: you guys didn’t buy it because it was just like another car… viper is different and it should look different to carry the name Viper.
Don’t tame it down, vipers are known for having outlandish looks!! That’s why I fell in love with it in the 1st place… you want to keep your current and future customers don’t ya? Then don’t steer us away by looking somewhere else for another true American sports car. (Ford GT-40, GR-1)
I don’t want the bells and whistles either. if I do then ill buy a 745Li the luxury should be CD player: You have to jam, A/C: have to stay cold on the hot weather, and power windows: got to roll the windows quick so you can get the girls phone number at the light before it changes.
Nav System?? Hell no if I get lost I want to stop and ask people for directions and get compliments on my ride and more #’s.
To this day I will never forget the timeless looks.
I just hope that this is just a Concept and the GTS-R will carry the legacy of Viper into the future… Just my .02
