HOW LONG NOT RUNNING YOUR VIPER IS O.K.???

Just curious as to how long you can go without running your VIPER and not have issues such as oil still coating engine, startup damage due to lack of oil coating and seals not drying out? I'm not worried about the battery as I have a DelTran, however, due to business requirements I have not started the VIPER in about 7 weeks. How long can you safely go without running the car?

Doing good...just busy! The red calipers will look great on your black DLM...good choice! I've got red calipers on my 10th ANNIV. Black Cobra and they really jump out against the black body color.

For the put-away cars, remember that most wear comes from cold starts. That fact is exacerbated on those cars that have sat for several weeks and have all the oil in the bottom of the pan.

You might want to think about using a remote starter switch and spinning the engine till you get some oil pressure, that is fairly simple. One step better is a pre-oiler that has a remote reserve oil supply. With the right pre-oiler you can almost reach full oil pressure before the engine starts.

I am on the same boat. I haven't been home in over 8 weeks. I can't trust my roomate to start the car b/c she might accidently drive through the wall...

There are times when the interval between starts can add up to several weeks...or even a few months..especially in the cold zones. This is where a full synthetic oil has a real advantage in that there will still be a film of oil on the metal parts. Under these circemstances, a startup with a VERY gentle warm up (don'pull power til you have full temp...remembering that oil temp may lag behind water temp by 10-20 minutes)followed by a full drive cycle seems to be well tolerated by these cars (and others)...BIG mistake, in my opinion, is to fire the car up for a few minutes, then shutting in down (without allowing the full drive cycle)probably a set up for more harm than good. Others may have more and/orbetter advice.

I am pretty sure you don't get any oil pressure until you crank the starter.
