I was wondering, does anyone know how to remove the silver gear outline from the shifter? It is a stock shifter that I had recently replaced and when they put it in the silver outline part is twisted and not facing the driver. Anyone know what I can do?

Thanking you in advance

Just put a small flat head screwdriver under it and it will pop out. Mine was loose and it popped off using my fingernails. Once its out there is a notch in the bottom of it that should line up with a notch in the shift nob. If yours is flush against the knob then the notches are probably lined up. In this case, lift up the boot and, taking 2 wrenches (1 on the bottom of the shifter - 1 on the stop nut) loosen the stop nut from the shifter and screw the shifter knob to the desired location then tighten the nut up against the shifter.

Hope that helped.

I actually cut my stock shifter and the shank to make it a little shorter. I used a sawz all (sic) to make sure the threads stayed straight.

Andrew,
FYI, You can buy a shortened shifter from a guy (Rich Detert) in any of 3 lengths for around 30 bucks...I have one and it works great...better than cutting one IMO.
Cheers,

Short stock shifter? Sounds great.
I'd would like to have it a little shorter.
