I need some advice on the following:

A while ago I contacted Viper HQ about getting back copies of Viper Magazine. During my conversation I mentioned that I had ordered a 2006 blue viper convertible and was awaiting delivery. The kind lady took down my name and address and said she would be sending me a coupon which I believe she referred to as an Ambassador coupon. Based on when I had the conversation I should be getting the coupon in a few days. I assumed at the time that this was something like an employee discount coupon which would not apply to the SRT line of products.

Assuming that the coupon does in fact apply to my SRT-10 convertible, I would love peoples' advice about (1) can I apply the coupon to my SRT-10 even though I put my deposit down in August, (2) even if I can legally do so, will having my local dealership sell me the car at slightly below invoice amount to a financial hardship to the dealer or are they compensated by DiamlerChrysler for the difference and (3) is it kosher to ask for the couopn discount even through my delaer and I worked out the sale price several weeks ago (x dollars over invoice)? FYI -- my car will probably be delivered in the next few days to next two weeks as the dealer stated it is currently en route with Reliable Transport.

I would love to take advantage of this program but I am also interested in developing a good relationship/goodwill with my dealer.

What say you all? Thanks.

The simple answer is no. The coupon is good for any DC car except SRTs. If you are an employee of DC or any of their divisions you can buy any car including SRTs at dealer invoice minus 1% holsback plus $25.00. Holdback is 3% of the MSRP before shipping. The dealer gets to keep 2% of the holdback and pays the salesman $50.00 out of it. This is fact as I just bought a new jeep and might buy a coupe and was quoted the pricing above. As far as the dealer is concerned they all are sharks so why worry about their health, they do not care about you except to get your money. Yes their are exceptions like Woodhouse to the rule.

There is a change to the Ambassador Coupons, if you have been keeping up with the forums here.

You CAN use them for the Viper NOW. Do a search and you will what I mean. The thread is less than a week old.

YOU CAN BUY A VIPER WITH AN AMBASSADOR COUPON.

Yes, you can buy ....
SRT 4
SRT 10 Ram
SRT Viper Convert
SRT 6 Crossfire

I just bought a SRT 4 yesterday w/the Ambassador Coupon.
Go to your dealer and find out if you can use your coupon on the Viper you ordered. They are only good to 12/31/05.

Good Luck!

I was told last week flat out by my non certified viper dodge dealer that I could not use mine to buy a new coupe. The problem here in Connecticut, and I am sure in the rest of the country, is that there is only 1 dealer that I know of that is Viper Certfied, Pappa's Dodge in New Britian, and that all the other Dodge dealers selling Vipers are not Viper Certified but are buying them from Certified dealers around the country. What are we Viper owners to do when we need service and we bought a Viper form a Dodge dealer that is passing themselves off a Viper Certified? I can name over 20 of these loosers in southern CT as I went all over pricing my Viper when I bought it. Only Pappa's discounted the car, all the others were above MSRP. When id DC going to do something about this? As loyal Viper owners we should be treated better. I have not brought my Viper in for the headlight switch recall as Pappa's is a all day trip for me and I do not trust all the non certified dealers in the area.

Atro Racing --

From a previous I believe you are correct that the coupons do not apply to the new coupe. However, that previous post indicated that they do apply to the SRT-10 convertible.

It's 59.4 miles from Guilford, CT to Tators Dodge in South Salem, NY. A little bit of a ride but you won't find anyone better than Chuck Tator in your neck of the woods. He is the Viper Wizard.
